This is REALLY bad news for me, considering I just recently pre-ordered a Smash Bros Limited Edition 3DS XL.....
Seriously? WHY? I really don't want to miss out on the new exclusive games (assuming there will be some very good ones), but I don't want to upgrade my 3DS AGAIN after less then a year....... Of course I could cancel the order and wait for late 2015, but considering stuff like SSB4 and Pokemon AR/OS I REALLY want and need that 3DS upgrade right now.... And even if I do end up selling the ordered 3DS XL in favor of the New 3DS XL later, I still dunno how an eventual data transfer would work, and I want to keep the cool Smash Bros. design.... Goddamnit. The worst thing is that the only thing that could convince me to upgrade is the new games. Sure the new 3DS has better CPU but it doesnt warrant an update. If it was more revolutionary like the change from a DSi/DS Lite to a 3DS then I'd by all means trade in my older consoles, but this is...eh. It feels just like it would trading in a DS Lite for a DSi back in the day (something I never did myself), except with the DSi getting exclusive games. I can live without a 3DS Xenoblade (I already played through the game on Wii), but if the new 3DS gets something like an exclusive Zelda/Kirby/Metroid/Pikmin/SmashBros game..... ____________________ Former SMG2.5 Advertiser and one-time Level Designer/Artist - So Apparently Norway is rich while Denmark and Sweden are happy. Posted by Somebody Else I'm surprised at that too. Most people dislike him because they don't want more Mario characters to be represented and have more variety (and yet they keep craving Geno, who would probably count as part of the Mario universe). And I don't understand people who find him annoying. He has his crappy moments as well as his good ones. He was good in Sunshine and the Galaxy games, but was meh in the Sports games and Sticker Star for example. I don't think he deserves any hate. He was a highly suggested character for Brawl and back then most people were disappointed that he wasn't included. Launching this new 3DS is a good way for Nintendo to get more sales IMO, but also hurts their reputation since most people who will buy this probably don't WANT to support it but they still do it because of the games...
For example: Nintendo has said that the "C-stick" on the new 3DS will work with the new 3DS but Circle Pad Pro on the normal 3DS won't. This will obviously contribute to sales but sure as hell won't make the fans happy (me included). Seriously. I don't WANT to buy that thing no matter what but I will be forced to just because of the exclusive games (as soon as they announce a new exclusive 3D Zelda, 3D Mario, Pikmin, Kirby, SSB, Metroid or F-Zero game I WILL buy it no matter how much resisting I'll do). They should have announced this at E3 and launched it worldwide by the end of this year. Then more people would've bought it (the perfect thing to do would be to launch it alongside SSB4 and create a Limited Edition. Sooo a Demo version of SSB4 3DS has been released in Japan and Sakurai has told us to "stay tuned" for more info about the english demo and that it will come soon (hopefully next week, or even THIS week due to stream on friday?)
Demo only has 5 characters to play as (Mario, Link, Pikachu, Villager and Mega Man) and 1 stage (Battlefield, although you can also play its Final Destination form). A limited Number of Items and Assist Trophies are also available, and only VS mode is playable (but you can play with other people via download play). I REALLY want this demo really soon. Yet another reason why I absolutely despise Club Nintendo. I've bought more than enough games to qualify for Platinum like every year, but then they have the balls to not make Club Nintendo in Norway.
It's times like these when I start to wonder "why the fuck am I still buying their games"... Buuut then again once the demo releases in general next week I'll suddenly not care and be like "OMFG NINTENDO I LOVE U".... How are people getting all the codes anyway? Posted by Degolegodyl I play with a normal original 3DS (Although I'm getting a XL the same day the full game comes out) and it works just as nice as it does on the XL (my friend plays on one. And I'm talking about the gameplay itself here). Although the XL is actually the better choice. Playing too long (and "too long" isn't as long as you think at all. It's like 20 minutes) on the normal 3DS makes your hands hurt unless you switch positions, which then becomes awkward. Having a bigger screen also helps because well this is Smash Bros so having a clearer and bigger view gives you the advantage. Sooo to sum it up: The game is perfectly playable on a normal 3DS, but it's better with a XL. Still, if you only have a normal 3DS then I'd still buy the game upon release. Just take 5-10 minute breaks after every 20-30 minutes you play and it should be fine. Posted by Degolegodyl When I play solo it doesn't lag at all and maintains a steady 60fps, but if you play with other friends nearby (with their own copy of the game) it sometimes lags heavily if the people are too far away or one/both of the consoles have low battery. I know 11 characters would be a bit too much, but eh. 8 would be reasonable (just add in Kirby, Samus and another newcomer)
I'm not complaining tho, since this IS a pretty high quality demo. ------------------------------ Also guys, I will be attending EGX 2014 in London next week (it's basically European E3/Comic-Con). Nintendo will host their third official SSB4 tourney. Winners get a Special Smash Bros. 3DS XL (which I already pre-ordered but If I win I can just cancel the order and save money) as well as the chance to play against pros on the big screen and get it streamed live on the internet.
I'm not sure if I can participate though since they haven't revealed the exact time for registration/tournament start, and I'll only be there for 2 out of 4 days (Saturday and Sunday, but EGX lasts from Thursday-Sunday). If you can't enter at Saturday then FML. Fox and Diddy already have Wolf and Dixie colored costumes, and Ridley is a stage boss (most likely).
