Looking good so far! I bet with some new textures it could look a lot better than a N64 model!
Thanks :D i'm looking to get some better textures, so blah

Yeah I mean you could literally take that model, bevel the edges, and retexture it, and it would look right at home in a Wii game.

@Cackletta: Seriously you'd be surprised how much doing this can do. Especially the textures. If you have some nice custom textures with smooth transitions and borders, it'll look awesome.

Yeah Im working with blender later to smooth out the model, I tried using some sketch-up plugins but they didn't work to well :P

So, other than just how it looks, what do you guys think of the design
UPDATE: I haven't done the smoothing yet but I wanted to ask what you guys thought about these textures

Update 2: Moar textures

That looks a bit better and the smoothing will certainly help, but a key part is making the textures loop and transition smoothly. You'll probably have to do some photoshop work on them to make them do that.
yep, i'll be working on that later :D

Speaking of school my friends and I got kicked out of our schools science lab because we were making gold powder for a science project; It was kinda weird because one of the science teachers knew we were doing it and didn't tell the science teacher who works the lab we were making gold powder so he got a little freaked when he found out what gold powder is :P
Edit: I forgot to say that gold powder is similar to gun powder, its an explosive.

I've stopped this project because I most likely wont be able to finish it, that being because I should have done some editing to smooth out the model while I was making it.

I read on that documentation that you think the .dat files are stages\courses, that seems legitimate, they are used in SSBM (this does not necessarily mean they are the same but there is a good chance). I would look at how SSBM .dats were decompiled, it might help you with this :) I hope I was of some help

It's not a good idea to make a hacking/modding tool as a beginner...

But it don't exist a hackig tool. And I would like programming a tool. (As beginner). But you have right, I can't. Sorry, that I have time taken. :(
Its not that you are taking time its that you are not showing us anything that cant easily be found by decompiling an iso. Its like saying you are going to bake a cake and you keep showing us the recipe, but you never show anything about the cake, if that makes sense.

I tested it and it works on R4i 3ds with newest firmware
Edit : there are some slight texture glitches though, its nothing to bad, just a couple of discolored pixels in the first level

That's not the fault of R4, heh. It's the fault of me being shit at modelling at that point and the model being seemingly unrepairable.

It doesn't happen later on though.
Ok other than that its a really fun hack :D

I just got a new hard drive for my computer and had to re-install windows and everything. After installing python 3.4.0 and PyQt4 I used obj2bdl, got a bdl, added it to the games files the way I usually do and it didn't display in whitehole or in game. I tried to export from sketch-up and 3ds-max 2013 and neither file worked.

I mean it didnt show up at all, it showed up as the generic "No object" item (The blue block with the xyz axis)
Edit: I think it might have something to do with the BCSV file, ill try that for now but i still think it was an error with obj2bdl

What version of the importer are you using because v0.4 will do that with any model in whitehole.
oh :P im pretty sure im using v0.4, whoops that was embarrassing
Edit: yeah it was v0.4, sorry about making this thread

A BMD is an earlier version of BDL, its used in GameCube games and some wii games. BMD and BDL are very similar. So he is most likely trying to import GCN models to mario galaxy1/2. As for fixing the issue try putting all the files (including the scripts) on the desktop, it sounds weird and stupid but it works when i have errors with the obj2bdl/bmd2bdl scripts, so I would give it a try.
