Up until now, I had no idea that they decided to make most characters only playable in certain events. What a lazy way to balance the game!
I was tempted at getting this |

Yoshi's Island DS upgraded its artstyle from "drawn in crayon" to "drawn in MS Paint" |

That could've worked as a Clone Tag Team level.
I wonder if it's possible to clone in NSMB2... |

To be perfectly honest, their policies are more laughable. |

Posted by LeftyGreenMario Did you just Mario Sunshine still looks beautiful today. The art style is a little different from later games, but meh. |

I don't think they were aiming for such fine eye texture detail on a machine that outputs 480p. |

Obsolete =/= Bad
Sunshine made great use of the GameCube capabilities with impressive polygon counts, unmatched water and weather effects, and had an art direction that basically set the baseline for all future Mario games (aesthetic tweaks aside) If we were talking about Mario 64 here, I'd agree. Though I defend that game to the death, I can't deny how terribly the graphics have aged (it really should get a HD makeover). But Sunshine's still holding up well enough to fit in with the uniform art direction that is a signature of the main Mario series. |

Rosalina is definitely a part of the major Mario cast now. She's appeared in 3 main series Mario games, and was playable in one of them.
Also, I wouldn't mind a Super Mario Sister. Posted by xKitten They left him out of two main series games, but they give Luigi his own game series, a full-length DLC for NSMBU, crammed his 8-bit sprite everywhere in 3D World, made him the focus of an entire RPG, made luigi-fied versions of existing games, a special edition 3DS, and had a whole year dedicated to him, but he's the neglected one? |

Dropping .mp3's in NSMB's sound_data.sdat file expecting it to work. It was a long time ago. |

The problem that people run into with these sort of projects is that there has to be a lot of cut content to account for the lack of gravity manipulation, which means there isn't likely to be enough content to make a respectable port of Super Mario Galaxy. |

So I just found this browsing the web:

I can't hate 3D Land and 3D World for what they are, because they truly are brilliant games, but I can hate the fact that the original format for 3D Mario games appears to be either dead or taking its longest release gap in history.
There were six years between 64 and Sunshine, two years between Sunshine and 64 DS, three years between 64 DS and Galaxy (though we knew of Galaxy's existence for two years before it arrived), and three years between Galaxy and Galaxy 2 (and we knew of that for a year beforehand). So far it's been six years between Galaxy 2 and whatever comes next, but we still don't know when or how, so to even say that we'll get one next year is a big stretch. The only hope left for the 3D Mario I grew up with and love depends on a.) whether the "new kind of Mario game" that Miyamoto mentioned just after E3 is a 3D Mario, b.) if said game is not a continuation of 3D Land and 3D World (that is, it doesn't take inspiration from the game mechanics of the NSMB games), and c.) if this "new kind" of gameplay is going to be an expansion of the free-to-roam concept of the original 3D Mario games or some other kind of re-invention for the series. Even so, Miyamoto said that at the earliest, we might see it at E3 2017, which makes me doubt it'll release next year. I want to be able to explore a seamless 3D Mushroom Kingdom already, that isn't divided up into limited segments and where fun isn't hindered by the nagging urgency of a time limit. I think it would be exhilarating to be placed in a single world with hundreds of platforming and puzzle challenges to find and collect Power Stars, and doing whichever mission you want in any order instead of linear progression, (the only exception to this is, perhaps the final boss). |
