I literally spent the last month to come to this conclusion. It's impossible.
I'll set up my scenario for you: I want to add a new Planet to Starshine Beach. "I'll add YoshiCaughtPlanet!" I thought. Freeze. "Hmm, it must be an issue with that Planet. Let's try another...". Freeze. *tries 50 other planets*. Freeze. I concluded that it must be an issue with WhiteHole's 3D Editor. I try it's BCSV editor. Freeze. I lose all hope in WhiteHole and try Anarchy. Freeze. I try manually editing with hex. Freeze. I start with a fresh Starshine Map file, and I conclude: "Hmm, I guess I can't add planets from other galaxies at all. How about I rename this planet's file, folder and subfiles names to that of Starshine's, and see if it loads." Freeze. I then try to import a custom planet using the ProductObJDataMapTable thing. Freeze. "Okay, I guess the WhiteHole BCSV editor is screwed up. Let's try the other BCSV editor (Marionumber1)". Freeze. "It must be an issue with Starshine Beach. Let's try another... *grabs random galaxy* (Sweet Mystery). Now we're cooking with gas! Freeze. I try a dozen other levels, and with each I try adding already existing planets, custom planets, planets from SMG1, and BMD2BDL Planets. Froze each time. "It must be an issue with my Rarc editor.". I tried Wiimm's SZS Tools. Freeze. I tried this thing called 'RarcTools'. Freeze. I tried WiiExplorer (Again). Freeze. I tried CTools. Freeze. I tried another nameless Rarc encoder. Freeze. I tried all of the above, but with a yaz0 encoder. Freeze. I download a new Riivolution template. Freeze. I write my own Riivoluation template. Freeze. I downgrade Riivolution. Freeze. I upgrade again. Freeze. I try two different region Wiis. Freeze. I try a WiiU. Freeze. I try Dolphin. Freeze. I try Dolphin with every region game. Freeze. Basically, it froze, a lot. At this point, I'm 15 days into this madness. I created a huge, complex checklist, with every possibility and combination of plausible fixes. Each one was checked, no solution. The only thing, any level would allow me to do, is maybe add some objects. Otherwise, certain objects would cause certain levels to freeze; one galaxy would load one object, and another wouldn't. Some (And only a handful) of Galaxies would allow *some* external planets to load. The majority would not. Completely random. I double checked item IDs. I tried replacing levels with patched versions. I tried adding objects to UseResource (Which is apparently useless, couldn't hurt to try). Freeze. Freeze. Freeze. My second checklist, containing 192 possibilities and combinations was completely checked. Nothing worked. Then we're at day 25. How many times had I seen the level selection star begin to spin, only to freeze somewhere midway, followed by a loud buzzing sound? 2,912 times. Last thing I checked, would be new, imported objects. 'SimpleMapObj' they read. I give up. I look back on my time soent doing this. I started researching this stuff in February. I looked through countless threads, collected dozens of programs, bookmarked page after page, mades 1,000s upon 1,000s of reference text files. I remember first starting at SMG2.5 forums. Plenty of data there. 700 files thanks to that. Cutting Room Floor, 500 files. Kuribo64, 1400 files. Time spent searching through Object Databases, looking up file formats, studying structures, dumping roms, texturing, modeling, assembling, compiling, it all felt as useless as a internet sidebar ad. I gave up, day 27. I remember seeing dozens of times (As noted in my 2gb reference drive, full of text files) that RedBlueExGalaxy could do anything. Boy, it sure does. Every zone, object, imorted planet, converted planet, copied planet, replaced planet, everything worked, on every region disk, on every wii, with any Riivolution version. The sad thing I realized: Every custom level released thus far (6 or so), which contains newly added planets, was a modification of... You guessed it! RedBlueExGalaxy. The only other one would be SMG2.5's Planet Planes, which somehow managed to get a new planet working over that level. Whoop. I tried everything, everything. Nothing worked. At all. Never. Not one. Zero. 0. 1 minus 1. Success was non-existent. Every table was filled properly, I doubled checked dozens of times. Failure. What fun are galaxies only composed of the planets they originally came with, maybe with a few new objects added? Snore fest. Yawn. Been there, done that. Get out of here. Go home. It's BORING. --- And there ends my scenario. The most useless 30 days of my life. Not to diss SMG2.5 or anything, but seriously, how can anybody expect to modify a game like this with such limitations? Where one simple planet can freeze the whole game? Replacing one planet file with another causes a crash? Sounds like a Hard-coded nightmare of torture. |

Excuse this double post, I hit the 3DS Browser Text limit.
Look, I'm not trying to bring anyone down, but this has to be impossible. Just how can you do this? Deal with this? I don't understand. Is there some magical memory patch that takes these limitations away? Or perhaps a super-gecko code? Do I have to manually insert branches myself? Must I have Gandalf assist me, wish upon a star or ask a Fairy God Mother for help? I just... Don't get it. Would these limitations truly require some assembly hacking to break? You can't go on with limitations, you just can't.
I can't do it. I don't think anybody can, Can you? Please, please prove me wrong. There has to be a solution, somewhere. |

Posted by Silver Is that even possible? Or better, will it ever be done? I'm moreover sad, and quite disapointed that so much effort has been put into coding, programming, modelling, texturing, and everything with this game, and it all comes to a point where it's all useless. The time I spent, my well detailed documents on everything. ![]() |

Posted by NWPlayer123 I actually wanted to do a W1 hack. It was short, simple, and sweet. All those models I made, everything, just wasted. I took all this time to plan it, and whe it got to part where level editing was required, it crashed and burned. Has anyone ever considered that this place might be as inactive as it is because of this? I almost didn't want to post about it, but I knew it was the only way I could help, by being a voice. People work on editors, level designs, and such. Why not drop all that and tackle you biggest issue of all: The one that prevents you from, actually doing anything. Otherwise, everything, from the database, to editors and importers, and even this forum, they're completely useless. And I truly hope everyone understands that. Every minute spent here is a wasted one as long as this is at hand, and moreso for anyone who's taken the time to make editors. All that hard work for nothing, genuinely nothing. So, so disapointed. I'd do whatever I could to solve this issue. |

Posted by Agent000 I saw that before you deleted it c: It that really true? How do you do that? Is it as simple as putting the level files over another? Is it not really slot based? Does something else determine that? I'm desperately looking to find a way out of this situation, so much effort has been put in. |
