It will be extremely hard to do. The code all over the ROM assumes that there are 4 characters. The player's structure also assumes 4 characters, and changing that would mean changing the offsets of all the fields after that, which means more fixing.
TL;DR: Practically impossible. It might, however, be possible to have one character behave as and look like a different one depending on a different field. ____________________ Current hack: Excerpt from Super Mario 256 |
