Just a quick update here to ensure you that Thwomp Swamp Galaxy is most certainly not dead. I promise that things will pick up again once I get my summer homework out of the way.

Actually, this galaxy is pretty much dead. I instead decided to incorporate some of my ideas into Foggy Bog Galaxy as a compromise.

Here's some random idea for a hub I had one afternoon. Sorry about the image quality.

I must say, nice job on the drawing. But is a completely spherical and super complicated (when it doesn't need to be) hub necessary? It looks like it's built more like a planet in one of the galaxies rather than a hub. Think less like Starship Mario and more like the Comet Observatory. I'm not asking for a hub as large and expansive as Delfino Plaza, but at least make it less...round.

Well, the Starship Mario was spherical, just shaped as Mario's head. It has multiple protrusions. For example, the blue and gray part on the right of the planet is supposed to be raised off the ground. The angle makes it look a bit wonky.

I think you're kind of missing the fact that I said to NOT think Starship Mario. I know this is a hack for Super Mario Galaxy 2, but that most certainly doesn't mean that we can't take inspiration from the original. This design just seems kind of bland, honestly. Maybe try something that's not out in space? A grounded hub world is not entirely out of the question.

A grounded hub world IS pretty out of the question. Remember, this thing has to be a model capable of moving around the world map. It's Super Mario Galaxy. Y'know, space.

Keep in mind that this isn't a design. It's a super-rough, open-for-interpretation concept artwork.

Oh yeah, kind of forgot about the world map. I just got so used to it that I sorta forgot that it's something that we have to work with. Just looking at it though, it doesn't seem like something that wouldn't believably fly through space. Seeing a giant ball zoom across the cosmos would look pretty ridiculous. But those are just my thoughts, I'll wait to see the feedback of others.

No it doesn't. Like one of our original ideas was - Peach's Castle transforming into a space ship. It can easily be a distinct portion that detatches to travel. Let's not limit ourselves because of pointless claims.

What would the story for that be? The toads of Peach's Castle have been secretly developing technology to allow the castle to fly through space? I'm not saying that the Super Mario Galaxy games have never had ridiculous concepts, but the idea itself sounds pretty out there. And before you go on a tangent saying "you're limiting our creative freedom!", I just don't feel like a flying Peach's Castle sounds like something that I would ever actually see in a Mario game.

I agree with Polari, we already have far too many castle/indoor areas already. We don't need yet another castle/tower.

Nope. They're TetaKuri (Iron Goombas):

NWP I also spied with my little eye some beta Element Blocks in the level:

Element Blocks? Could this signify that Super Mario Galaxy was going to use power-ups similar to the caps from Super Mario 64? Y'know, I always dismissed the idea that we would get a Super Mario Galaxy 3, but now I kinda want one...

Wow... so Mario... yet so cool...

I'm down with this. Maybe we could blend this idea with the additional orbiting planets idea!

I'm thinking of a spacy remix (3 to be exact) of Peach's Castle. NOBODY BUT ME CAN COMPOSE IT! :D

I was thinking of slow piano notes for the first part. Peaceful, yet empty, as the castle is still mostly destroyed.

We can still make improvements while repairing! I personally think it will be much more rewarding this way.

Admittedly, we'd just be restoring Peach's Castle to a hub world that we've already explored twice...

So, um, I gots two little ideas here...

Basically number one is that you do a bit more stuffs to get to that first Time Switch. Basically you land on this first gear, and the Beat Blocks are next to it but are too fast, so you go the other way.

The gear where you started is part of a group of sorts of gears of different sizes connected in a shape that sort of forms a tunnel, with pendulums to make the platforming harder. At the end Mario flips a switch on a platform, and the gears switch which way they're moving. This allows Mario to reach some little places hidden behind some of these gears that he couldn't before and he collects five Star Chips.

They make a Sling Star back on the first gear that launches him up a bit onto six gears stacked up, with each smaller as you go up, like a layer-cake or something. Also each one is faster and moving in the opposite direction of the last. There arelots of enemies. At the top is the Time Switch. Once it's hit, you just jump back down. Yeah...

Number two: this could go somewhere in planet three. So there are some atoms floating in the air around a clock Mario is standing on. They are clustered into three groups of one, two, and eight. So the hands on this clock can be moved to the next number if Mario spins at them. If you set the clock for 1:28, you can move to the next section.

So that's it I guess...

I'm pretty certain that this idea has been discontinued due to MoreCowbell getting banned...
