To get back on topic I might as well post my computer specs.
Well I have a laptop and a desktop (although the desktop is technically my mom's I built it and use it a lot at home) Starting with the Laptop: Intel Core i7 2630QM 2.0Ghz 2.9Ghz turbo 6gb of really crappy RAM (I'm probably going to upgrade to 8Gb of 1600Mhz RAM soon, I've gotten 2 Blue Screens from ti) Nvidia Gt 525 w/ 1GB GDDR5 750Gb 5400RMP Hard Drive (after I upgrade the RAM I might upgrade that to an 64/128Gb SSD) Blueray Drive Now the Desktop: AMD Phenom xII 960T @ 3.0 Ghz 8gb 1600 RAM AMD Radeon 6770 1 GB GDDR5 500Gb Seagate 7200RPM Hard Drive Now to post something funny relating to computer specs: So at school my friends and I found a random Core i3 sticker laying around. So we decided to put it on top of my Core i7 sticker and make up a BS story about my computer specs. We had a program that shows your computer specs so we edited it to say Core i3 instead of Core i7 to see of we could possibly fool anyone into thinking that my computer registered what processor was in it by what sticker was on it (We obviously thought that was hopeless because we had hope in people's knowledge of technology). We eventually did find a person who believed it though. So to try to show him it was a fake we edited the crap out of all the other specs because all he was looking at was the i3. This is what we ended up switching the specs to: ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Why would making a member who ACTUALLY did something irrelevant because he didn't make the move? It doesn't make sense at all. His design was one of the best we got since the trailer and it was approved so we should focus on making that and maybe making some slight modifications to it instead of trashing it completely.
Also about the ship, this is Mario, therefore we don't need a good reason to have the ship crashed. If we do anything regarding the crashed ship we could modify the ship some to make it look more like an airship. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

The reason why the model isn't working properly is because when I gave people the model I didn't unwrap the textures onto a png once I get that working then I don't know why the model shouldn't work, its just a matter of when I get the spare time to learn how to do that.
Also blank if you want to look at it I put the .blend file to the uploader section and you could try it. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Well I've been gone for a while so might as well come back with something crazy, and this is part 1 of 8 of my crazy design frenzy (where I hopefully make 8 designs in a period of 7 days, and hopefully not die). Well because my original model got rejected here is an picture I drew of the new star.
Well the large island on the right is the main part of the island, Mario finds himself on a grassy area of the galaxy with a beach in front of him and a cave next to him. Mario notices that the cave is blocked by some rocks so he must find a way to get rid of the rocks and proceed in the level. After exploring the top of the surface, Mario decides to go on a diving adventure. Cue the bottom left image. Mario dives beneath the surface of the water to find some way to get rid of the rocks. (the lightly shaded in parts of the drawing signalize shallow water while the deeper shades refer to more shallow water) After swimming around in the gorgeous water Mario finds a cave with a Koopa shell, Mario must then find something to do with the shell. Similar to Beach Bowl Galaxy there are some cracks in the sides of the wall, so Mario decides to throw the shell at them and hope for the best. One of the cracks leads to a large cave with a ground pound switch, so Mario decides to hit it. Hitting the switch allows Mario destroys the rocks and lets Mario proceed in the level. The other crack leads to a long cave passage with a chest at the end of it. If Mario decides to go back and get another shell he will be rewarded with a comet medal. Return to main image. After hitting the switch to destroy the rocks Mario can proceed to the major cave. the cave has the same feeling with all the glowing crystals and stalagmites and pillars. Also in the cave are 4 blue star chips for Mario to find. Once he collects these 4 and the 5th one at the end of the cave pull stars appear around the end of the island. Mario can use these to advance to the final section of the level. Cue top left image. After using the pull stars Mario ends up near the lake with a island in the middle. Mario can then explore the top of the island. As he explores he finds to very tall plateaus but is unable to jump between the two. So he goes to find a switch that can help him. He finds this switch at the bottom right of the island next to the smaller lake. When he hits the switch it will create two platforms for Mario to wall jump up and then long jump to the taller plateau. On this plateau Mario finds a large crystal that he ca break and free the star. Well i hoped you enjoyed part 1 of 8 of my design frenzy. More to come either today or tomorrow, and throughout the next week. If someone thinks they can model this very well in the next week please tell me soon, or else I'll model it. Also please note there are lots of palm trees and other tropical things in this level that were not included in the drawing. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

We are keeping Lubba as the main character because this is still a galaxy game, some of you appear to think it will be a Sunshine/64 game. Toadsworth can appear but he will NOT be the main helper to Mario, end of discussion. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Part 2 of 8 of my design frenzy (sorry for no design yesterday, having to do a 250 mile drive in blizzard conditions isn't fun). Well I made the art in around 40 minutes but I've been thinking of the design for a while now, and here it is.
Well Mario starts on the large planet and then he uses a leaf raft from Starshine Beach to traverse through the level. Along his journey he'll find obstacles such as bubble shooters that want to knock him into the poison, as well as large spike balls that have the same goal in mind. On his journey Mario may find a pipe with a cover on it that needs a key to unlock, then he must go find the key in the swamp and use it to get to the pipe. Once Mario finds the key and goes through the pipe he finds himself in a sewer system. He must find his way across pipes extending from either the wall or the poison floor. Some of these pipes have a piranha plant that occasionally comes out. One of these pipes from earlier moves Mario up where he'll find some platforms that break and fall. On the high part he encounters a bubble shooter that will move him back down in the level. At this point Mario can either proceed in the level or take a risk and go for the comet medal, this involves platforming across a pipe that moves into the poison and a breaking platform and using a bubble shooter to get back. Once past that Mario will find himself at a snake block platform. Mario uses the snake block to proceed. Along his way there will be pipes that extend across the way and Mario will either have to jump over then or duck under them. Another potential hazard can be the snake blocks temporarily going beneath the poison and making Mario wait then jump. At the end of the snake block section Mario will have to make a wall jump (There will still be a floor beneath the wall jump that will stay there to save Mario from one mistake). After the wall jump Mario can go and get the Star and complete the level. Well I hope you all like this level as well. Feedback is always appreciated and be on the lookout for more designs in the near future. Also I'm working on Gravgen Generator currently so expect that tomorrow as well as potentially another design. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Well I attempted to make this on the old forum a long time ago, nd because it was a good idea then I think this will be a good idea here as well. (now to try and understand tables)
Total Written Designs 5-121: Total Drawn Designs 5-121: Total 3D Modeled Levels 1-121: Total Level Creations 0-121: (We want this bottom one green as soon as possible) ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Well we've been discussing on the irc and I really hope this system will work. I've been working on it for a while now and I'll layout the rules and give some motivation afterwards.
Well everyone likes their title, and I'd like to emphasize people's good work on whatever they are doing. Please not that this is NOT bringing back jobs but instead commending people on their hard work and dedication. So lets layout what we need to complete this project. Level Designers: If you want to be regarded as a great level designer then you can follow these rules -Try your hardest to make a full design for a star every week, I know it is hard to come up with ideas all the time but just read the galaxy's level design thread and it should provide ample ideas for a full design. -These designs should be a full written design with at least a paragraph describing each planet, or a drawing with some text explaining each planet. -Your design can also be a 3D model but it is harder to make those in a week Here is a plan I propose if you are designing. If you start on each Monday with your level in mind, look at the threads relating to that galaxy, and see what you can make of it. Think more and more about your design for Tuesday and Wednesday while you are bored and formulate the general outline of it. On Thursday and Friday make a rough draft design and submit it to me of Glem3. We'll review it and tell you what to improve etc. then you can revise it on Saturday and post it either on Saturday or Sunday 3D Modelers: If you want to be regarded as a great 3D Modeler then you can follow these rules -Make a Nintendo quality model of a given approved design from the level chart, a good example is Glem3's Sky High -Do this every 2 weeks to retain your title -Have the model fully textured with mapped and shaded textures Level Creators: If you want to be regarded as a great level creator then you can follow these rules -Because we don't have many approved designs currently, if a level designer approaches you with a question about a given mechanic test it and try to give them an answer back in 2 or 3 days max -When we start having a steady flow of ready models try to make the designs into actual creations in around a week (This means complete with gravity cameras coins enemies etc.) Well, that is the new layout now I can give you all motivation on what we can accomplish by following this system. Right now I have 5 members who say that they will try their best to make a design weekly. at this rate we will have 20-25 new full designs monthly. Given that we have 49 galaxies and around 5 designs approved we can finish a design for each galaxy in around 2 months, then making the remaining of the stars should take less time (given tat there is already a theme for each level). This should hopefully take another month and a half to 2 months. Also just because the rules say 1 design a week doesn't mean that you can't have multiple designs a week, it will just help more and more (and reduce the total amount of time required to finish the designing process). On the 3D modeling section, we currently only have 2-3 good modelers, which is a hindrance that we all know about (and has been demotivating all of us). To have significant progress we need more modelers (as we all know). My action plan is to have Glem3 make a youtube trailer calling for modelers who can model well and texture map by the end of next week. This trailer would show off some of our drawings, and specifically focus on Astroluma's Sky High drawings and Glem3's model of them. Hopefully, using this trailer, we can raise our active modeler count up to 8 (and I will base my calculations on 8 modelers). Assuming we get all of these modelers by the middle of next month, we will have all of the models done in around 4 months. With Level Creation we already have a few creators around and fully capable of making levels in Whitehole once the models are supplied. If we can have 5 level Creators working on creating levels starting in around 2 months, all of the levels can hopefully be created in 4 months which bring a total of 6 months from now. Also hopefully we can make a demo sometime this summer which will probably take a week or 2 to complete. If we work hard on following this plan then the project can be completed in a matter of 6 months, and at worst 6 to 10. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it is nearer and nearer. Lets try to stay motivated for the next 6 months and try our best to finish the project so we can release it by the holidays and show everyone our hard work and effort. Something else I'll be starting this week is something I call "The forum this week" where I'll layout what we should try to accomplish each week. I hope this along with this new strategy will improve productivity and get our spirits up for the future. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Well no but its very useful, you can make a well written design with about a paragraph per section/planet and that will get you bye. If you can draw well I'd suggest you do that instead because it saves time so others don't have to make a drawing from your design ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

The reason why we need 3D models is so that people can actually create the levels. When a level creator goes to make a level its not like the needed model magically appears. therefore we need more people to make the models to pick up the pace. When designing the level a drawing is good enough but when creating the levels we need actual modelers to make the model before we can create the level. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Hey guys!
Well its been a while and we've made significant progress, you know what time it is... New Trailer Time! So what have we done recently that would be great to show off? -Thanks to Marionumber1 we can now use the Red Star and Ice Flower! -Thanks to our many designers we now have multiple designs ready to be drawn and modeled! -Thanks to our modelers we now have some models that are ready to be textured or are textured! Let's look at the past what we did well last trailer. -We had many different galaxies of different styles shown such as grassy wooden and lava. -A playable demo -Advertised the forum well and got new members and many people interested in the forum. Therefore we should try to be just as successful if not more this time! What do we need to show this time and advertise? -That we have moved to Kuribo64 -That we have multiple galaxies created and in the process of being created -That we could use modelers to help us get stuff done faster (given that we only have 3 really working now) What galaxies should we advertise in this trailer? We have a list of potential Galaxies that we could show off in the trailer, provide feedback on these -Toxic Terror (just finished the model today, needs to be textured though) -Coastline Cavern (has the drawings, I might be able to model it this week) -Shrapnel Sandbar (Agent000 has made the first planet, it just needs to be textured) -Rolling Halfpipe Galaxy (fully modeled we just need to create it and show off the second planet) -Digital Circuit (has models needs to be textured) -Yoshi's Island 3 (modeled is being textured, we need this because Bomb-Omb Battlefield was such a hit last time) -Ghostly Graveyard (has a design, needs to be drawn then modeled, may not make the cut depending on how fast we get everything else done) -A level to show off the Red Star/Ice flower (should be available for download) Well there is the list of galaxies to include but we also need to have an ad at the end of the video saying that we could use more modelers to increase the speed at which the project gets done, as well as that we moved to Kuribo 64. Something else we could use would be a promotional site for the project so we can have something other than the forums to show to people. Well hopefully this motivated progress now and in the future, it would be awesome to get this out there by mid May then I will talk about other projects for the summer. Lets get Working! -Cosmological ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Let me clear up some confusion and answer some questions.
First off We are not going to use gliding canyon for our demo level, we will use something that will resemble gliding inferno (I also don't care if it has any "spoilers" because it isn't that big a deal). The reason for doing this is that we can demo the ice flower by platforming across some lava, the red star, flying over and through lava, and some fluzzard, who knows we don't even have to include the fluzzard part in the demo at all. Secondly there is some confusion regarding my Coastline Cavern design. Star 1 was not designed to use the ice flower and therefore in the final game we will not have the ice flower but for the trailer we can add it. Thirdly don't worry about me not completing Coastline Cavern in time, this Friday I'm pulling an all-nighter and going to be using blender for a good portion of the time, and next week I have break. As for music, that is not my forte and I won't intervene on what we choose, unless it is obvious that we need something different, but we should have something cheerful and upbeat. Okay, lets get working, glad to see this idea is such a success. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Okay I think its time to comment on this idea.
So being the only one who can approve designs that is around currently I think we should do something about the process as a whole. First off I've been busy so I am very outdated with progress on the designs and haven't been able to do any of my own. If you've made a full blown design recently please just PM me a link or the design and I'll comment back to you when I get free time. Secondly when I'm done with finals (this week) and a camping trip (next week). I'll be able to catch up from all of my missed progress. And be back for most of the summer. Thirdly this is how I'd like the approval process to go. -Random ideas or concepts go in the general design thread for the galaxy (we really don't need a cap for the length or else people might get the wrong impression and as always spam or unrelated posts will be deleted). -In the thread or some other thread that can be organized someone can claim a full design for a level. -That person can make a full blown written or drawn design and put it in a new thread for that star. -Someone who can approve designs such as me or Glem3 will notice that new thread, look over the design, approve on the spot or suggest some changes. -The designer makes those changes and then Glem3 or I can go approve it. -Work on visuals or 3D models can begin. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Hey guys, my workload is finally letting up and its almost summer for me,
Therefore its time for me to get back into the swing of things and this will be one of the first things for me to update. Remember this is a thread for only approved designs and will not mention designs in progress (hopefully a thread will shortly be made to fix this problem though). So as I've said in my other posts if you have any designs that you'd like for me to look at please PM them to me (so I can get to them sooner while I look through all the progress I've missed). Time to get working! ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Well when going through the forum today i stumbled upon Geo's thread about who is designing what and thought, woah this a great idea but it could use some polishing.
So I asked Geo if I could make a similar thread and here it is, all of the designs and their designers. Notice how most of them are empty, so I would like anyone who is currently working on a level, has finished a level recently, or is planning on working on a level soon to post a responce to this only telling me what they have done etc. Please do not say "So and so is working/going to work on on set level" because that will just cause confusion if they have changed their mind. Just respond with what you have done and what you plan to do, that is all. Also when you start on something new post another response so I can update it accordingly. I think this thread will help reduce confusion regarding who's doing what. I will try to implement everyone's responses by noon tomorrow. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |
