my concept music, underwater exploration!! i love it, went for a sort of mysterious watery spacy theme, alot of deep brass to give it that lurking in the depths feel, didnt wanna make anything too melodic here, its really more of a dorian tone poem, music geek lols..

welcome, im also a composer/pianist who started doing stuff recently for this project, best thing to do is look for a galaxy that doesnt have much activity on the music thread or ask in the IRC what you can work in if you cant see what already has "approved music" and yeah like agent000 said its always a good idea to try get a mood of the galaxy from the concept art, or maybe on irc ask the people designing the galaxy for some general idea/ a guide sound track e.g the beach song from ff7 or something you know.

and about samples, dont worry too much about relevance people just want to get an idea of the quality of your work, and maybe what sort of levels you would be best suited too, depending on your style. for instance i personally write alot of classical tracks but also play in a band, the worse type of music for me would be some dance styles that i dont know much about, however id be confortable with classical/jazz/metal etc.

after reading everything on this galaxy and considering the title, i want to write something with some low strings, slightly droning, but the main piece to be piano in a "contempory style" thinking ravel/debussy type music, to reflect the fact that this is a very anachronistic galaxy, we need equally strange but beautiful music tommorow i shall be working on this!

gonna have a stab at this myself, and try not to rip off vivaldi's "four seasons" which is pretty much this music concept in a nutshell!

personally i feel like this galaxy should have a retro-ish sound, and a strong melody that sounds like it "could have been" an original mario game theme. im gonna see if i can come up with something.. not to fancy but a catchy little melody

yeah i made that a while ago but some people said they wanted to galaxy to actually be very high hearted and bouncy so what i wrote which was basically a dirty bit of metal was too heavy i think, really depends on the final design i guess

i personally believe that morals are pretty much hardwired into humans, as evolutionarly speaking its very beneficial to socialise and get along with people, of course there are out casts and sociopaths, but they only exist to exploit the norm, if everyone was like that, it wouldnt work, its evolutionary game theory. If you look at biology lots of animals are monogamous especially ones which live a long time and have complex social groups, lots of animals are promiscuous too as obviously there are some benefits too that if you can get away with it... humans rarely can :P. Whether you think cheating is ok or not is of course to do with morals because we are intelligent animals when we form partnerships of any type we assume a mutual trust. Cheating is going behind someones back and is therefore amoral, sleeping with other people in an open relationship, is just being a swinger.. its fine.. if your into that...

when you see someone go underwater in the movies, and you decide to hold your breath to see if you can survive, but then the scene changes to something else... first world problems :)
