that being said, the board isn't trying to attract newcomers. at this point it's mostly just a community and general discussion and the sporadic romhaxing activity.
yeah, AcmlmBoards are probably one of the hardest boards for any newcomer, especially today's convenience-demanding people, to learn or even consider joining... so yeah I see completely where you're coming from there |

we don't need to bring more new people in.
I think we more need to focus on getting existing members more involved. that will in turn help activity. |

i mean having gaming first, and then having ROM hacking and emulation as sub-topics to make it one place for all. given the fact there's two sets of people here:
* oldbies who mostly hang around general or discord * newbies (atleast to k64) who mostly hang around romhacking because most boards about gaming don't cover rom hacking or emulation, do they? I can propose some sort of forum list if this sounds like a good idea. ==important== announcements help, bug reports & suggestions ==[staff forums]== ==general== general chat serious discussion relaxland relaxland II ==gaming== nintendo - current & future nintendo - pre-2013 other gaming ==rom hacking & emulation== rom hacking & emulation sm64ds hacking nsmb2 hacking mkds hacking (new forum, perhaps sgc can help be a moderator?) ==memorial== display case trash forum this can probably be toned down considerably tbh, but I think if we expand on that gaming idea (but not make it the only focus) and provide a place covering both nintendo gaming, and romhacking/emulation that is friendly, accepting and open - a lot of the romhacking community has a negative stigma attached to it imo (see:smwc, gbatemp) - then we'll start getting new members. i feel like maybe a 'community events' forum would be nice too, things like mosts, arranged online gaming sessions, would really get people knowing and getting together, in the 'important category' |
