There is a section in Kid Icarus: Uprising where you need to look in a mirror to see the real ground. That's where we should look for inspiration, but I can't find a screen.

Something I didn't make quite clear, this is NOT a design, it's just concept art. The actual level will have a much more fleshed out design. However, yes, the first star is only those two planets. It will be long though, it's a big area, and once you get onto the second moon you have to swim to different parts of it.

Dark... but not TOO dark, honestly. Cosmic cove was not a dark galaxy by any means but the sky was still dark.

Remember that this was some of the original inspiration for this galaxy:

Edit: I think, in an effort to make the level more linear and fun, I'm going to make it so you need to venture onto/inside of one of these boo ships to gain access to the water that brings you to the moon planet above. How exactly I'm going to do this, I'm not 100% sure. I'm thinking I'll have the pathway be blocked by a cave or something, which you can only gain access to by getting a key in the pirate ship.

I actually honestly think I'm kind of against a dark blue sky because I'm worried it will make the water that's being pulled up stand out less. Maybe more of a mixture of bluish purple and black?

I think something that people have completely neglected here is dash yoshi needs a REASON to exist. We need to think, what can dash yoshi do? And THEN think of how to build a level around that. The ideas given all seem good, but they all require reasons that yoshi needs to dash. I can think up a couple, but they're hard to execute.

Yes, what I meant was that we need to think of gameplay that actually compliments dash yoshi. Do we know how to make conveyors? I'd avoid that idea for now. Every single time we use the dash power, it needs to have a reason. Here are Dash Yoshi's powers:

1. Running on otherwise impossible angles
2. Running on water
3. Outrunning some bad thing (Falling platforms, crushing blocks)

Make sure for your dash yoshi ideas at least one of these aplies. One example would be having the swiss cheese planet be part of a sandwich, and the top and bottom bread are actually closing in on you (of course, this is hard to actually execute in reality).

Another example could simply be dashing between planets in 2D where a boulder/chomp chases you from the left.

I'd advise not using water. Even so, I have a bunch of ideas in mind for this galaxy, so don't worry. Also keep in mind the galaxy is not 100% dash yoshi, parts of it are still normal Mario.

Guys, there are SO many amazing ideas that aren't being taken into account here... some of them have been mentioned, skating on snake blocks would be REALLY fun (if they were fast enough), bouncy snake blocks... but what if you're not ON the snake block? What about fiery lava snake blocks that you need to avoid while platforming? Or, what about becoming ice mario and SKATING on a fiery snake block?

I really, really like it, but the chorus sounds out of place for Mario... just take out the chorus, and I think it'll be perfect.

Actually, tar snake blocks are a good idea. You need to stay on yoshi to survive, pretty much.

I still think we need starship mario to be part of it, or at least there needs to be a main ship, like the giant starshroom. I'd like a ship that progressively gets surrounded by planets for each world.

I think this song fits really well, but I do think this one could be orchestrated and made a little darker given the context of the galaxy. A very good start, though.

This was the original idea for SMG2.5. I think extending levels is a neat idea, but not something worth spending time on at the moment.
