It should be an option.

Also, to avoid old thread bumping, a warning/ notice should be added when the user is about to post in an old thread, so in case he didn't checked the last post date he can be aware.

Will modtendo! have the option to put the mods on a USB drive?

This feature could be added, the download system code I writed is flexible and implement this eventuality. Video preview is also in project.

The first release could be delayed a little, I encountered a small problem with downloading special characters file/folders, but it should be fixed soon.

When I say old thread, I mean +6 months thread where it is more useful to make a new thread since conditions change, even I understand that it may confuse because it could implicitely relate to this thread case.

not a good idea if you your mod to be played by more than a handful of people.

well, that is his decision; you could just get modtendo! as a mod manager/downloader/installer to download his mod, I don't forbid people getting modtendo!
And I support him, it could make modtendo! very popular. But again he is free to do that, and don't feel obliged PikachuR77 to make it modtendo! exclusive (althrough I appreciate).

I am still trying to fix this error, and it's definitively improving. The Wii actually seems too much "lazy" to make many folders consecutively, but I am changing that, and I already find a way to bypass that, I just need to implement it.
Well that's why the first release will be delayed, but hopefully not for too much.

That's not the point. What I meant is that only releasing it to your app is gonna greatly affect the amount of people who play the mod as far from everybody is gonna use it. Plus my Wii's disc reader is crapo'd so that means I would have no way to play it whatsoever.

Yes I totally agree with this issue, and I have to consider it.
Well Riivolution works only with an original DVD, and I don't see how I could bypass this limitation nor think that another SD/USB backup loader works with realtime patching.
Actually you could just download the mod with modtendo!, and after patch a backup with the Riivolution mod downloaded, but I recognize that it's not very convenient.

Unless he allows modtendo! to be used in a browser (on pc or mobile) then people could download it without going on a wii.

The problem is that essentially modtendo! is useful because you can use directly on a Wii, and making it run also on another platform remove this exclusivity, and would need much more development time that would impact directly the Wii version development.

As you see this issue is much more complex than it seems.

I like how the NGEmu forums did it for the PCSX2 forum back then: the link to the forums led to a rules page instead, but there was no obvious 'okay take me to the forum' type button

instead, it was done in such a way that finding out how to get in, while still being trivial, required reading the rules

oh, you reminded me that I used to have an account on NGEmu a long ago... (to ask for DSiWare games support)

I don't like very much this idea, because it may make users think that the forum is buggy or whatever, and make them left it.
Rules should not be long, but concise and short, so people read them without being "forced" to, and then they agree to these morally since they read them knowingly.

But well I understand that there may be some people that don't want to read, and if so they just didn't understood that a forum need reading and just not pointless writing.

iyenal, modtendo! will gain more popularity if you add a PC Browser version. It could be a great place for people who's Wii disc reader is broken or disc is broken e.t.c.

Also natnew, what do you mean by "transfer to Dolphin"? If someone's computer is powerful enough, there shouldn't be any change in gameplay. Unless someone's hack crashes on Wii but not on Dolphin.

Making a PC version don't only involves porting an interface and the mod database, that would be easy, but there are also all the backup patching part, which is a pain to configure.

Just download the mods you want on Wii using modtendo!, and after patch your backup using Dolphiilution, which have been done for that. Not too much difficult.
And so, you will not let your Wii collect dust

Finally, the problem is now fixed. I succeed to implement a system that supports multiple folder creation with special characters (unicode) on FAT32 disk partition type. The second release should be released in a matter of time.

Also important notice :
It is imperative to download the current version in order to be able to use new versions as well. The Wii will update itself to new versions, and the autoupdate system is designed so all the versions updates will be based on the one that is uploaded here, and on the site that should be done soon (still searching reliable hosts).

Development update :
Small last-update problem, I updated librairies following a code cleaning, but due to these changes,

appeared in a nutshell. File system drivers conflict appeared and needs to be fixed so the application can work properly. I apologize for the further delay, but this will be benefical for new versions, as the base will be cleaned and therefore makes it ready for consequent deployments.

Also, about an eventual PC version development, most of the librairies will be upgraded to SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) library, to prepare a multiplatform ports based directly on the Wii code. It could open a lot of expanding possibilities, like maybe an online port using WebAssembly, and even mobile devices (althrough less support will be given for tertiary platforms).
