This has been being worked on for about 2 months already, but I felt I should put it here since most of the stuff here is about NSMB2 hacking.

What Will It Have?

All new levels (obviously)
A new title screen
Custom music
A new map

How Can I Help?

Making custom music (Don't worry, I will convert it into a usable form!)
Making custom levels (You MUST use Reggie Next or CoinKiller to edit the .sarc)
Making art (Draw a pony!)
Make a model (It must be in .obj format, but if you know how to make .bcres files, that would be great.)
Whatever else you think could be helpful!!!
And don't worry, you will be credited!

When Will It Come Out?

It depends on how much homework I will be getting in the next few months ;)

Proof Of Concept:

(Sorry for the bad quality. I don't own a camcorder. Future videos will be better.)

And remember, if you want to help give me a PM or tell me in the comments!!!

you need to get QtDesigner

Can you give me a download link? I can't seem to find it.

have you searched?

I found it, but it looks like I need to fill out some kind of form to download.

eh, interesting project

the level in the video isn't bad, except for a couple details:
* at 0:40 you probably can't get past the Goomba stack safely if you lose the Koopa shell
* at 0:49... glitch? you're supposed to groundpound into the bricks to get to the pipe, but you'd go through ground

(also, 412 lives, NSMB2 and its ridiculous live counts)

regardless, good luck, and welcome aboard :)

Thanks! I realized that first point after the video, and I've made the stack shorter so you can jump over it. You are right about the second thing though. I'll change it so that there is an opening in the ground there, instead of going through the ground.

Nice work. The level does have a few level design flaws as StapleButter has pointed out, but your skills will certainly improve as you start creating more stages. By the way, as far as I know, the current version of the NSMB2 level editor is unable to edit entrances or paths. At least, that's how it was when I last checked. Are you using a version which does allow path-entrance editing or you plan to make a whole hack without such edits? Whatever the answer, good luck and I hope you enjoy creating custom levels.

I'm just making entrance points manually using hex editing atm. I hope Reggie Next/CoinKiller supports entrances soon. Its a big pain in the ass to work with.

This project defenetly a good idea. Finally a NSMB2 hack :)

Concerning the level layout: I'm not a that big fan of your level layout. It somehow looks a bit like if you saw new things in the editor while doing the level and then said "Oh hey that's cool! Let's use that, too!". The best example are the Paratroopas. They only appear once.
Also the brick blocks in the ground look kinda odd. When a Koopa shell touches them you can see the solid ground tile without edges.

Nonetheless I'm looking forward for more progress :) If you want a few level design tips, go here.

(Also: Isn't the name of your hack kinda uncreative? I'd rather choose a better one)

That was just a test level. The first level is based on that, but its very different than the original. I might make another video showcasing the finished level. (With better quality too) Like I said, its not final, and neither is the name. I'll make sure to check out your link though.

eh, not bad

(and nice that we're already able to do that shit, heh; it took ages to get that far with NSMBDS)

Not trying to brag here, but once again, something I've known how to do for months.

I was just wondering if you knew how to make exit point edits. Nice job with the world textures btw.

This gets the GalladeGuy seal of approval. I'm actually working on a tileset editor myself.

of course

and I guess you also have a level editor that you had finished before even the game was released?

What's the point of saying that? You're just being rude. You don't have to walk up and try your best to disprove every single thing I say. I know you're the owner of the site but that doesn't mean you can go out of your way to annoy the members. People have a lot of respect for you. I don't think you want to lose that.

It really depends what type of console the NX is. We still don't even know if its a home console, handheld, or some kinda hybrid. I don't think a SMG3 would go well on a handheld tbh.

Will CK allow entrance and path editing in the initial release? Reggie Next isn't very good with that. :/

I know I already posted this on GBAtemp, but a demo of the first world will come out by Mid-March if everything goes according to plan. Probably sooner, but I don't want to pull a Hykem on you guys. ;)

I'm trying not to add too many coins.

Am I the only one who thinks the box buddy looks like the square from Geometry Dash? No? Okay, I'll leave now...
Anyways, good luck with this! Also, if you want more attention drawn to your homebrew, I recommend posting here: https://gbatemp.net/forums/3ds-homebrew-development-and-emulators.275/. Tell them I sent ya. ;)

more attention, but also more idiots...

That's for sure. 95% of the homebrew community on GBAtemp are 9 year olds who want to install CIAs on 10.5.
