Hello, I'm Cloudy Luigi! I've been lurking for a while and decided to finally make an account. I mainly hack NSMBW as a hobby, but I hope to provide others with feedback on their own projects, get my own things out there, and just shoot the breeze with other members and observe stuff.

(Awesome new logo by SY24!)

Hello, this is a thread for my fan hack, Super Mario Green Star Groove!

Way back when, I got involved in a hack known as New Super Mario Bros. Wii Deluxe. And man, did that go up in flames. It was a valuable experience for me, though, the people I was with on the project were pretty cool. The key thing here, is it sparked my interest in hacking the game further. Now, this particular hack began it's development a while back in the form of New Super Mario Bros. Gold, which was basically an Another Super Mario Bros. Wii kind of deal. It was pretty rough. Anyways, it later evolved into a hack of NSMBW that's goal was for me to use a bunch of stuff created by the community in a pretty modest hack of the game. Now, it is a Newer hack, and I'm hoping to use my experience and newfound knowledge to create an enjoyable Mario adventure.

Mario, Luigi, Toadette, and Toad set out to collect Green Stars across the Leaf Kingdom to defeat the invading Bowser and his minions!

This hack will feature custom tilesets created by the community, several of which by joietyfull64, and a few tileset edits of my own, custom music remixed from files acquired from VGMusic.com and other sources, in Garageband/Logic Pro X, custom backgrounds, several also by joietyfull64, and a few background edits of my own, retextured elements, and custom world maps along with new themes. In addition, there is a hidden (and sometimes not-so-hidden) Luigi in every level.

Immense credit should be given to the Newer Team for all their hard work put into NewerSMBW.

There's no definite release date for this hack. I have other things to do IRL, and this is more of a hobby than anything. It will be finished someday, however. I really appreciate if you read to this point, and I hope you enjoy the final product, whenever it's out! More frequent updates are something I hope to strive for.

I've always thought that the overly-lanky model for Luigi that gets tossed everywhere just didn't look right. This is really cool!

So, a bit of a bump but... I've uploaded a new trailer! Yeah really, after all this time... the project is going in a different direction now, with a name change and everything, that I feel is a hell of a lot better.

Stuck the new trailer up there in the OP

Wow, I haven't checked up on this hack in a while, but damn does it look amazing! Definitely one of the most impressive 64 hacks I've seen. All the courses are super imaginative, checking this out once it's released will be awesome.

A little preview/update thing, a full look at the first level in the hack.

I say it in the video description, but there will be level preview screens like there were in Newer, to the same effect. But those are unfinished, as that's a huge pain in the ass, so the preview isn't shown in the video since it's not ready.

In between everything you can expect more videos like this to pop up, as a nice sort of pat on the shoulder that the project is alive when I go quiet for a while.

Another level preview! For the sake of time I'll copy paste the description for the most part...

With World 2 of this hack I'm aiming for something like Layer-Cake Desert from NSMBU, but a bit more realized. Part of the world takes place in the sun baked lowlands (Cinnamon Sands), and the other part of it takes place high up on a food themed mountain (Sugar Heights), and throughout the world you'll switch between these themes, for there's an enemy base in both areas. In terms of the world overall, it's a fair split of the spotlight for both themes, and each individual level has its own flair while still sticking to the theme of their area.

A very late thank you for the kind words Paul... In terms of how many levels have been made, I'll be honest with you, combined with everything this project's been through and the multiple refreshes, I would say 20 levels are done-done, with others being designed currently. It's a slow and steady process but I hope for it to lead to a higher quality hack. Matters aren't helped by IRL stuff too... but I'm working on it, which is the most important part. Things are definitely speeding up as of recent though.

The World Map is something I'm saving for later, though I have a general idea of how I want it to be set up.

Anyways, the level preview, and all.

Definitely been absent a bit from this forum for a while. Things have been a bit hectic for me, but as was posted, a new trailer was indeed posted. I appreciate the kind words...

Recently in addition to that trailer, I've also uploaded four new videos to the channel, one showing the updated versions of Fire Flower Hill and Scorched Steppes, one showing a course from World 2 called Doki Doki Dunes, which is heavily inspired by Super Mario USA, the point being to somewhat replicate things from that game in the traditional 2D Mario style, another one showing a course from World 5 of the game, Sunset Ocean Side, that follows the Cheep Cheep Bridge course type, and finally a short little video just meant to showcase Yellow Toadette replacing Yellow Toad as a playable character, the original Toadette model edit being by StupidMarioBros1Fan. The reason for Yellow Toadette specifically being I don't want to mess with the Super Famicom color coding thing NSMBW has going on...

For this post, here are the two new course previews:

I'll make sure to better keep you guys posted on any updates that I have to share in the near future.

A demo for this is now available! In the form of a painfully bad, days late April Fools joke too. Sorry about that...

Thought I commented on this before, but I guess not... It looks really great! Very creative, very much looking forward to the release! Good luck!
