I don't have the answers there, but peaceful protesters are still getting roughed up by police, so I doubt strict nonviolence is the answer. also, I don't think Chauvin would have been arrested without all this mess.

also, ACAB. they might not all be overtly racist, but those who stand aside while their colleagues are doing racist shit are complicit.

police itself does not serve to protect people. it serves to protect the existing order and enforce the existing laws. which means allowing Bezos & co. to get absurdly rich while the poorest are starving in the streets. this is not a world I want to live in, and police is here to defend that world, therefore police is an enemy.

also, in your logic, the problem is the government (indeed, it's part of the problem).

now, say you ask your govt to change laws in your favor. higher wage, more rights for minorities, or whatever.

current trend is that governments follow their neoliberal agenda without listening to feedback from their people. regular mobilization is going to be ignored, or crushed by force if it makes too much noise. that's been a common theme for the last 10 years.

govt relies on its police, and indulges into whatever police asks for, because govt knows that without its police, it's done.

police is not the enemy per se. it's the wall, and you have to take it down.

they believe they're bravely defending the country from the lawless thugs who want chaos, or something like that.

I mean, instead of stopping at the illegal things we see happen, robomoderating them and dishing out prison sentences, maybe we should ask ourselves why these things are happening, why these people are going through the risk. instead of deciding that 'they are intrinsically bad'. most of them are like you and me, they just want to live.

it's like the whole deal around prisons. they keep going on about how prisons are overcrowded. solution? build more prisons. they have been doing that for years and yet prisons are still overcrowded. so maybe it's not the right solution? maybe we should stop and question a system that fills prisons with people who stole a burger to avoid starving.

but the Right would rather have you believe that all these prisons are a requirement, because somehow 'lawlessness is increasing', as if it was some kind of trend, as if certain categories of people were more prone to being violent and reckless. well duh, of course they're gonna be reckless if that's the only way they can survive. there's a lot to say about the whole thing of having to work a job to deserve legal survival.

at this point I'm going to veer into a rant about capitalism, because, as you see, all these issues are interconnected. so, yeah.
