Kuribo64's current layout isn't really mobile-friendly, so I've been thinking about making a mobile layout for the site.
* mobile layout doesn't necessarily mean ugly. I'll do my best to make it still look good. * the mobile layout should have as few images as possible. Perhaps it should use a simplified, image-less version of the default theme, rather than the standard board themes. * in the same vein, it would use plaintext NEW/HOT/etc status icons instead of images. But that's not a high priority-- those icons are really not big. * the banner would be replaced with a plaintext 'Kuribo64', in a font that isn't too large. Banner is wasting bandwidth on mobile devices, and it's too wide for mobile resolutions. * similarly, the main menubar would have the view counter and clock removed. The menubar could also be made smaller or made to wraparound nicely. * the newthread/newreply/sendprivate/etc forms would have the smilies/posthelp boxes removed. Perhaps an appropriate post toolbar can replace them? * generally, the site design would be changed to be smaller and fit mobile resolutions better. * and idk what to do about the ObjectDB. That thing is fucking huge. If you have ideas to share, they're welcome. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Gah, this thread is getting outdated.
So yeah, as you already have noticed, new site layout. Clearer homepage and all. Still subject to potential changes though. Also I'll make a decent download page rather than just linking to the uploader. Oh and I'm adding stuff to the uploader. The 'Whitehole releases' category will hold the Whitehole releases (duh) and be featured in the downloads page. If any non-admin member is able to put files in that category, they should tell me about it asap. Edit- download page has been made. It's linked in the main menubar. The uploader link was moved to the forum submenu bar. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

That's weird. Every time I've used Whitehole, it always worked fine. Eventually it would throw exceptions because of some code I'd goof up, but JVM crashes like what you're experiencing would never happen, unless I screwed up OpenGL badly.
Check your JVM install and check your video driver, I'd say. And also try to disable shaders. From what I've seen, JVM crashes only occur when trying to do something OpenGL doesn't like. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Whitehole v0.9 RC was barely released two weeks ago, and it's already been downloaded 200 times.
In the meantime, we all relaxed for a good while, the SMG2.5 team released a Whitehole showoff video, and everything was good. Or not. A few troubleful bugs surfaced a while after the release, most of them due to improper testing. All my fault. Getting Whitehole working has taken long enough, I kinda rushed the release, not taking the time to distribute prerelease versions to some betatesters or test an edited level on a Wii. The first and most annoying issue is related to the 3D interface. On certain configurations, it is impossible to select, move or add objects. Quite troubleful. Dirbaio has committed a fix that worked for him without breaking anything for me, let's hope it'll work for everyone... The second issue is that when saving an edited level, RARC repacking isn't done properly. Namely, a value in the RARC header (the 'file length' value) isn't updated. The issue apparently causes the game to freeze when loading an edited level on a Wii. It went undetected because I did all my testing on Dolphin. I knew that Dolphin is inaccurate, but not to the point that you can throw whatever shit at it and it'll continue running your game anyway. This time, some tests on the real hardware will be done to ensure that the bug is really fixed. Another issue worthy of note is that some SMG2 galaxies can't be edited because something goes wrong while prerendering them. I'll ensure that the renderer is fully failsafe for the next release. I also got a report that on OSX, when trying to interact with the level preview, it becomes tiny. But sadly this will most likely remain unfixed, unless it gets fixed accidentally. I don't have a Mac, and there's no way to virtualize a Mac because Apple are money whores and forbid it. In short, fuck OSX. The next release was supposed to have some interesting features, but those may take too much time to code for the v1.0 release, so I may scrap some stuff and move them to a later release. In the meantime, expect a stable, improved Whitehole v1.0 soon. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Maybe. But blargh, you know me and my permanent laziness... getting Linux to work in a VM can be tricky, but OSX... I bet that shit is full of checks to make it refuse to run on anything that isn't a Mac. And if the only ways to obtain an OSX image are illegal, there's no chance virtualization softwares would support Macs. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

As title says, we can't have everything as threads in this forum. It'll end up into a huge mess.
I'm thinking about a wiki type thing, with the following characteristics: * it would be part of the board. You would be able to use your board account in it and all. * it would have a main page listing all the pages by categories, or something. * it would support Mediawiki type markup, but better. With stuff for easy tables and all. Perhaps also BBCode. (and it would parse newlines _normally_) * it would have a revision system, like forum posts and ObjectDB entries. Noone wants little shitheads destroying stuff. Suggestions? Ideas? Go nuts. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

As promised, we bring you the stable v1.0 release, which fixes a number of annoying issues found with v0.9 RC.
First of all, RARC repacking has been fixed, so edited levels should work on a Wii without freezing the game. Next, picking has been fixed, everyone should now be able to select/add/remove objects in the 3D view. And last, rendering has been improved. Some objects render better, loading times should be shorter, and VRAM usage has been reduced. So it's all good, you'd tell me? Not quite. The OSX-specific UI issue hasn't been fixed. And probably never will be. Anyway, discover this new Whitehole release here. As usual, if you have any issue, don't hesitate, come on the IRC or the forums and ask us ![]() ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

MrRean has tested it and it worked. One or two other people tested it too I think.
Try to go from fresh files, and make sure you're doing the Riivolution config right. And if editing SMG2, perhaps a crash can be caused by adding objects whose files aren't included in the galaxy's UseResource file? ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

This thread isn't relevant for SMG1 because it doesn't have the UseResource stuff.
Basically, each galaxy in SMG2 has a UseResource file telling which files have to be loaded. The purpose of this is likely more efficient data management. However the downside is that it complicates editing a little. If you try to add an object whose files aren't included in the galaxy's UseResource file, chances are that the object won't work, or the game will crash. Next versions of Whitehole will likely handle all this automatically. However, currently it'll have to be done manually. First of all, when adding an object, you check whether it's already present in the galaxy or not. If it's already there, nothing needs to be done. If you add an object that is entirely new to the galaxy, you'll have to add its files to the UseResource file. First thing to do is determine which files the object uses. With a little luck, you can search the ObjectDB and it'll tell you the files used. But given the ObjectDB is incomplete, the most reliable way would be looking in your game's ObjectData folder for files with names ressembling your object's internal name (Kuribo -> Kuribo.arc). Once you got your filenames, you'll open Whitehole's BCSV editor. You'll set the Archive to "/StageData/ The .arc also contains separate files for each scenario, but until everything is figured out, adding to common.bcsv is probably the safest way. Once you typed the right stuff in the two text fields, you hit Open. If you entered your filenames right, you'll get a column labeled 'ResourceName' with a lot of lines. All the lines are names of files inside the game's disc. You hit 'Add row', scroll to the bottom of the list, and should notice a blank line. You fill it with your the name of the file you want to add. You repeat this for every file you want to add. Once you're done, you hit 'Save' and close the BCSV editor. And hopefully everything should work. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |
