Yeah, but those could cause unintended consequences to your computer.

You're not wrong about that much - as of 1809, File Explorer doesn't even work with the Classic Theme enabled. Good thing third-party alternatives exist.

Having an official Microsoft theme would remedy that.

True. But Microsoft seems to be trying to out-Apple Apple in that regard, so expecting them to suddenly pull a 180 and do that is...a bit unrealistic, if you ask me.

the Classic theme seems to be more of a leftover thing than anything really maintained

even in Win7 it's a trainwreck, most of the new things look derpy, with some even using hardcoded colors that you just can't change

I use windows vista, which is that crossover between XP and 7, kind of that screwed up one and hated. In all honesty though, the ram this PC has is amazing. It's why I Mario hack with it.

If I could though, would totally go back to XP

I won't disagree with you on that much. Still though, it does yield performance improvements on Windows 8+, since it can be enabled alongside DWM. Not so consistently on 7 though.

I've decided to take a break from rap Windows 10 and use Windows 2000. Yes, I am posting this from a Windows 2000 computer. It's not emulated, it's on actual hardware. Actually, scratch the first sentence. I am using Windows 10, only because that is what is providing the 2000 computer with Internet. I was genuinely shocked that Windows 10 is able to communicate with Windows 2000 via ethernet, but it does.

As you'll see in the Post your desktop thread, I downgraded one of my many Windows 10 machines to Windows 7. It was starting to get very slow and also have random blue screens of death. I don't attribute those to Windows 10, but rather HP's OEM software. I removed all that and put on Windows 7. Did it on Monday the 9th, and am still updating it two days later. The updates it's doing now are optional updates. A lot of these are display languages, which these install very slowly, and has caused the install to drag on for 6+ hours (I started these at 2 PM). I fear this might need all night and probably won't be done until morning, and it's only 41 updates.

As of today, I only have one computer running Windows 10. The others were either downgraded, or never had 10 to begin with. This is what I have right now. HP laptop with Windows 7 (mentioned above), Dell Tower with Windows 7 (just got today), small blue Acer with Windows 8.1, an old Vista-shipped Acer with a penta-boot of Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, and 8.1, and a brand new Acer with Windows 10.

Windows 10 was running just fine on the tower, however, I did not want the OEM stuff included by Dell, plus Windows 7 is supported on my model, despite mine shipping with Windows 8.1 when acquired in 2015 (it was upgraded to 10 for free). This tower is really great at emulating Gamecube and Wii games with Dolphin. Runs as if I'm playing it on an actual Gamecube/Wii, and that's even with it only having 8 GB of RAM. If you want a reliable and cheap Gamecube/Wii capable computer, get a Dell Inspiron 3847. If you don't want 10 on it, uninstall and grab 7. just google Windows 7 on Dell Inspiron 3847 and one of the links inside of one of the search results should take you to its drivers page. You do need a KB something something update before you install the drivers as it will complain about a ProcedureEntryPoint not being found. Also make sure you have a computer with a reliable internet connection to download at least that update and the internet drivers to a USB. You can then do the rest from the tower. Also make sure Dell Support Assistant is installed as well.
