so this morning, as usual, I wake up, grab my phone and turn airplane mode off

it receives shit

I look at the notifications, a new email catches my interest:

"Pôle Trans [monthly trans meeting] cancelled due to bad weather"

... bad weather?? like, what kind of weather can be bad enough here to cause that? did it rain a lot or what?

I open the window. there is that silence-y ambiance typical of snow-covered places. but it can't be that, it never snows here in Montpellier.

so, I open the blinds...

[thumbnail]

(not the view from my window, but you get the idea. the view from my window sucks, actually, it's facing another building over a narrow street)

somehow, it happened.

some more pics of the building we live in, before an epic snowball battle took place here.

[thumbnail] [thumbnail]

later on, we went out to find some comrades and play with them.

the town streets were a sight to behold. like, some people were skiing or snowboarding down the sloped streets.

later on, a group of people were trying to slide down a street by using random things as makeshift luges, or sometimes actual luges or even a wooden pallet mounted on skis. we joined in, but the things I tried using didn't slide so well :P

we found our comrades, but instead of battling together, we joined forces in a bigger mess, where groups of people were battling against eachother, occasionally joining forces to attack passing cars or people walking under the bridge we were atop.

tl;dr it snowed and the town turned into a fucking ski station.

it's already warming up tho :(

this shit was epic

Here it has been sub -5°C for days ie it's way too dry for snow.

Today was probably the coldest day with -10°C. ugh.

We had rain for only one day before it's back to, sigh, sunny dry weather.

I want freak rain here, but not the downpour flashflood mudslide kind that we always get that kills a lot of people, you know?

We had our worst snow this season, got around ~20 inches dropped here within a day or so.

We've had snow for a long time already. This and last week have been too damn cold; as cold as -20°C - -25°C here.

weird, in early december it snowed here in texas.

does this mean kuribo isn't generating as much global warming as normal?

it was snowing around the Vancouver-ish area a couple days ago too. We got like a small dusting of snow in late November but, this is the most snow we've gotten in the winter even though it's almost spring

I'll give you all 100 bucks if it snows here.

The last time it snowed here was in...crap maybe in the 1960's or whatever.

yup, we stopped using coal as our main power source

we're capturing capitalists and making them pedal bikes chained to generators instead

Still haven't kidnapped me
Alzso, we also had an epic time up here in Paris, it was magical. It was the first time we had snow in like 6 years. But we had it in late January-Early Feb iirc.

dick stuck in the bike. unable to run.

this whole process doesn't really work for females. go trans for your life~

Ed: oh yeah ontopic, it snowed twice here.
first time went from tons of snow everywhere to slippery roads having cars go zigzag. stay at one place for two minutes and you're bound to see somebody slip. also try to run and you're screwed.

second time wasn't as much (didn't cover everywhere) but still decent and sticking.

We had to deal with a Nor'easter over the weekend while being bused around town. Atleast my dad called it a Nor'easter.

The day it snows in the city I live in, I'll officially declare this climate as broken beyond repair.

For the time being I'm having to deal with some quite strong sunlight during the day. Having to go to work in it sucks. Gotta remember to say hi to 30ºC (86ºF) again tomorrow , *sigh*. It seems like it'll rain during the evening of the next few days though, which is a plus I guess.

This winter, I've had extremely little snow. In fact, if no more snowfall occurs, this will be the fourth-least-snowy winter ever recorded here. The third-least-snowy is last winter (2016-2017), by the way, and the fifth-least-snowy (probably about to become sixth) is the year before that (2015-2016).

Fail. Fail. Complete meteorological fail.

Every Winter around here is getting warmer and warmer and the Summers are getting hotter and hotter. I feel like we’re gonna start camping inside stores just to get away from the heat. o_o And I believe I snowed in Spring back in 2015.

nah, the weird "broken" cold weather is really to be expected

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/15/science/feeling-a-chill-blame-the-polar-vortex-and-global-warming.html

basically, global warming is making the vortex veer farther down than normal so the freak coldness the east coast of US and Europe is actually what climatologists predicted all along!

compare that to west coast where it's much drier and warmer than normal at least for the majority of this winder
