Posted by GalacticPirate I think the problem is how forced they are, but that doesn't seem that accurate? could just be me though I'm pretty young lol |

You can't be too young to understand something.
But yeah, Windows 10 forces updates down your throat. And when you're on a shitty slow school network, that takes forever, it's even more ugh. Just imagine businesses that need to do something important and then an update rolls out meaning they can't do it on time |

They got rid of those but added spying and forcing updates. Hence why RAM usage on 7 from a clean install to a fully updated install goes up by over 400MB. |

Is there any way you can uninstall the spy stuff as of late? ____________________ Netplay is a language we all speak. Here’s my Discord. Kinda constructed now where we talk about whatever and lounge around on weekends. https://discord.gg/CqMArxq |

Posted by Swingball On 7 or 8.1 you literally uninstall the updates that do that. |

sure there is
services.msc, kill the fucker from there (stop it and tell it to never start again) keep in mind that a few things can reenable it, but usually you will notice its unwelcome presence there is that security update against the leaked NSA exploits, tho. you can download it and install it standalone, just like pretty much any update. maybe doing so reenables Windows Update as a side-effect, I don't remember. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Posted by StapleButter ...to clarify this for anyone else reading this thread, you can set the Windows Update Services' startup type to "Disabled" to prevent it from starting. Posted by StapleButter I have it installed and can verify that, atleast on Windows 8.1, it does not re-enable Windows update. You have to temporarily re-enable the service to install it, but it doesn't even try to stop you from disabling it again afterwards. Thankfully. |

Very recently, I've heard something about an update for this that actually deletes all your files. I think it's best that we should disable updates for now immediately. ____________________ Ugh, forget post layouts. |

Posted by Splitwirez I remember it did. I had downloaded the update package from MS's website directly. I guess the installer still needs WU functionality to do its thing. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |
