Any of you do work experience? I know some countries in Europe do it such as the UK and Italy. I'm starting in 10 minutes - here's some information I can give (copied from my blog)

So, I’m starting work experience today, at the Marlowe Innovation Centre, which is literally opposite the school I go to. I’ll be working with website and presentation related stuff. I’ve already visited the place and although I am feeling relatively nervous and anxious at the moment, I honestly want this to go well and be enjoyable and educational as an experience of work. Hopefully it all works out fine and I get on well with people there – the person I was introduced to, she seemed rather nice to me. Anyway, it starts at 10am and I finish at 12pm so I am not doing too much overload on myself, I’ll be working Monday to Friday at the same 2 hours. The only bad thing is that Avery won’t wake up to me… but she’ll see me later on in the day I suppose so it’s not all bad. ^^

I am currently formed as a trainee. I've worked in 4 different workplaces where it's about selling goods for 3 weeks each, I'm quite an introvert but I get serious and confident as being closer to the customers. The latest experience I had was at a manga store; meeting foreign people and selling merch like plushies, action figures and of course, half-priced mangas (€4.50 I believe).

Also dang you work for 2 hours? Aren't ya lucky there!

I'm introverted too, although in my job, I don't really have to communicate to many people - I'm pretty awkward to talk to in real life if you don't know me that well already.

2 hours, yes. 10am-12pm UTC. Gives me quite a bit of time at least to come on here :)

Basically in France we have this perverted system where high school classes are ranked from best to worst, in that order: science, economics, litterature, technology, and professional/apprentices. I absolutely hate that system where people are forced to study something following their marks and not what they want to do, and I'm sure Staple does too. So basically here apprentices are the worst of the worst, and it's not a good thing.

Wow, that's pathetic. (-_-)
Grades and marks don't judge at all what a person is like.

Generally, I dropped out from class although I attended exams last period. The only subject they handed me was litterature, and I succeded not on having good marks but fail to get my Senior year. Heck, just because I have no degree and I passed by that phase.

I hate how France screwed up the ranking system in schools which I had losses paying to class more than studies academically. The fact that a lot of companies are bustling their heads to find experienced workers than lesser apprentices today.

Yeah, I'm surprised the US doesn't do work experience sessions in school as a taster.

US is backwards in pretty much everywhere when it comes to social policies.

Totally agree with GalacticPirate, the education system is very bad.
