I guess I'm turning communist because I am being fascinated of the history and culture of the king of communist countries: Russia (mostly because of despite how big it is and how we were at a Cold War with it, it still feels really alien compared to say France or Germany). I've seen propaganda cartoons from both sides and it's very hilarious how they both depict each other as the exaggerated bad guy.

I wouldn't take USSR as a reference as it was more state capitalism than actual communism
or maybe it started as actual communism, I don't know all the details <me> anyway we need an alternate system, we can't keep capitalism forever, it's ruining the Earth etc <mom> communism doesn't work. USSR failed. man isn't good enough. except USSR retained the base idea of working for your own, individual survival; working should be for serving the society and not for individual survival so if people still need money to survive, but having a job guarantees you're paid regardless, of course it's bound to be a trainwreck I think we should try a system where survival is actually guaranteed (not a few bread crumbs coming from a pity fund, but a decent basic life) it's wrong to say that humans are all lazy fucks who don't do anything without capitalism. there are always lazy fucks, but most people can't just sit around doing nothing and would rather do something useful. The USSR was also a super power for its time too, enough for it to compete into Cold War politics, so I don't think it has completely failed. I think it's simply government incompetence that led to its fall.
Also, just like a pure communist system doesn't work, neither does a pure capitalist system, as in the case of the US, where we have a terrible Trump government, economic collapse in 2008 thanks to CEO shitheads, and more people dying because our healthcare sucks compared to say Canada's. As in USSR, USA, China, etc. they all have elements from their "rival" economic policy in order for them to function. We have socialist aspects in our capitalist systems, while governments like China have introduced many capitalist policies to their system. I think the policy that works out best has a balance of the two. |
