You think Trump might revitalize mainstream media (since that has been struggling for a while) since people are paying attention to the news more? I know I've been paying attention to the news more, but it's mostly because Trump is a big threat to this nation, and it's depressing that in polls, there are majorities that support the travel ban.

those 'majorities' have obviously not moved their asses to demonstrate in favor of their opinion, unlike those who are opposed to the ban.

What exactly do they do to demonstrate? Maybe they're satisfied, which is why they don't do anything about it.

It sucks though, that in parts of Europe, majorities polled say they're happy. France in particular disappointed me. Though not too much since there is some anti-Muslim sentiment there.

well... can't tell whether the polls are accurate without knowing the details, so I'll roll with it.

it's not entirely unsurprising to see the far-Right gain popularity. protests happen that turn violent (because it appeared to people that peaceful, permitted protests achieve nothing). the media report on that as "violent thugs rioting and smashing shit", completely disregarding what they struggle for. people perceive a rise of thugs, get afraid, want more security.

the terrorist shit doesn't help either. infact, more people die per year from getting hit by a bus than from a terrorist attack, but noone cares. terrorists aim at making a big killing show to terrorize people. the media fall for it every time. and then people embrace measures like militarization of the public space or cameras in their bathroom in the name of counter-terrorist measures, without thinking that the same measures will be used against them whenever they will want to contest the established order for whatever reason.

Fear also lives on irrationality of large scale large events rather than mundane, daily things like cars and food poisoning. For example, even though the chances of me dying due to an earthquake is extremely low despite The Big One, I'm still scared the crap out of the anticipation that such an event may arrive.

This is Trump's tweet

Posted by https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/835479283699224576?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
The media has not reported that the National Debt in my first month went down by $12 billion vs a $200 billion increase in Obama first mo.

That's because Trump inherited a recovering economy while Obama inherited the Great Recession. Trump has done almost nothing in fiscal policies so far, and since policies take a while for them to be noticed, it's absolutely ridiculous to give Trump credit for cutting the debt by 12 billion when it should be mostly attributed to the past 8 years of policies.

Look at the responding tweets.

There is absolutely no way at all that you can have any effect on the National Debt in your first month in office! For a start you've made no changes whatsoever in tax rates or spending yet!

There was a worldwide recession caused by some of the people in your own Cabinet, you dope.

Maybe that's why "mainstream media" "ignored" it?

Running deficits is also not automatically a bad thing. Following a recession, we need deficit spending to put money back into the economy and revitalize it.

I wish I can laugh at the chaos in the White House as they try to pass a shittier version of ACA (yes, that has a lot of flaws), and I'm relieved it failed.

This healthcare drama might be political theater to make people glad the ACA (largely a handout to insurance companies) wasn't repealed and lose interest in real universal healthcare through single-payer.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/27/politics/trump-climate-change-executive-order/

GODDAMNIT TRUMP you pseudo-science promoter.

Protecting "jobs" isn't more important than climate change. This isn't a dichotomy of economy versus environment, at least it's not black and white as he thinks it is. Climate change is going to be costly by amplifying hurricanes, heat waves, and spreading disease, and we're already feeling its effects. People will suffer because of your asinine policies that prioritize coal and oil over living conditions.

Go aim your focus at your goddamn hotels and golf resorts and your Melania Nordstrom thing which you'll be happy to safeguard against climate change. You're better at that than being our president.

This isn't surprising, but this is still infuriating.

What's notable is that rather than addressing awful policies like this, the establishment opposition to Trump is focusing on the ridiculous Russia fearmongering. That shows you where the actual priorities of the Democratic Party, media, and intelligence community lie. They support almost all of what Trump is pushing through, and would rather that we fixate on a foreign boogeyman.

The main thing to note is that Trump simply doesn't believe in global warming and a good chunk of the American people support this action. Especially people who want to work in the energy industry or get a job. Also, some people can't afford to heat their homes due to the price of electricity. Cheaper forms of electricity help prevent the poor from getting sick in cold, damp, and moldy homes.

I absolutely understand your concern about the climate, but he just doesn't see it that way.

'Jobs' are what they all promise in exchange for big, ecologically destructive projects. It doesn't really work that way. At best there will be temporary construction jobs.

The temporary construction jobs will be needed as hurricanes and intense storms ruin property

So in a sense, it is a boon to the construction industry.

Well, that's Trump's favored foreign scapegoat. But Russia is what's being used by the traditional establishment to smear Trump with.

Unsurprisingly, Trump has proven himself to be yet another deep state puppet by launching a missile attack against Syria. The attack was in response to Syria's purported chemical weapons attack on civilians, which has not been proven to have been done by the Assad government at all. In fact, the last time the US blamed a chemical attack on Assad, it turned out to be false. Neocons in both parties, who formerly opposed Trump for being too soft, have been commending his decision.

The one thing you have to do to win the establishment is to launch bombs into "threats". How surprising.

The effing tax returns. This guy started the whole birther "controversy" but he seems pretty damn reluctant to show them. I like how he accuses rallies that demand the release as somehow being paid.

But either way, I hope this doesn't become an obsession as how birther was.

Damn it, I think most Americans support the Syria airstrike. I don't condone this stuff nor had I condoned Obama's love for drone strikes.
