Are there any broken or unused sprites that ASM hack sprites could be injected into? I don't know how to make ASM hacks, just curious.

As far as unused stuff goes, nsmb2 doesn't have much unused stuff at all.
However, there is sprite 324 (Solid "Beam"), which as far as I know is unused.
All it seems to be is a solid invisible 1x1 tile collision.
