I created a 1 to 1 replacement of the NSMB2 underground tileset with the NSMBU tiles
[thumbnail]
As you can see, It doesn't break existing levels.(You can also see that I'm too lazy to take an in game screenshot)

Download for anyone who wants it.

I will also be poring all other NSMBU tilesets over to NSMB2(Hopefully all also 1 to 1 replacements) at some point in the future.

So custom backgrounds are a thing now :D I'm super happy that i got it working :) This is not just a retexture, it is a custom model with just one texture :D

EDIT:
Well this looks MUCH better :D Even though the background scrolls as fast as the Level, no matter where I place the 3D Model. Kinda weird and I have no idea how to fix that :(

Also overlays are not necessary.

Apparently deleting all 3D overlays in J_Kihon disables the question block and brick block animations. I haven't tested the other standard tilesets.

Could it be that only the overlays are animated in this case?

Try adding the ?-Block overlay to a random tile.

It's possible. I noticed the overlays for those tiles as well as the used block tile have less transparency then the actual tile, compared to other tiles which are the other way around.

Will test and edit.

EDIT: Test confirms it. The "question blocks" in the picture below are actually concrete blocks with the 3d overlay switched to that of a question block.

I Managed to model swap Mario with Luigi by modifying the games code.bin.

[thumbnail][thumbnail][thumbnail]

I would have gotten better images + a video but I can't record it due to me being unable to get NTR to load a modified code.bin (If anyone knows how to do this please explain it to me)

If anyone wants this mod, here are some xdelta patch downloads:
EUR - Special Edition
EUR - Standard Edition
US - Gold Edition
US - Standard Edition
JP - Coming Soon(If people want it)

(Apply the Xdelta patches to your code.bin)

Uhm, uploading the code.bin isn't a that good idea.
You are basically distributing the whole games code.

I suggest you remove the files.

I guess you just changedsome strings from Mario to Luigi? Then you could just tell the offsets where you cahnged what or make xdelta patches.

Here are some OW texture edits for NSMB2.5

How did you texture hack the overworld? I tried with Every File Explorer but it kept crashing. (And also how did you model hack the world too?) And also how do you change the background image display (Like the one with the mushroom hills, pyramids, etc)? I've been on this for a few weeks but haven't gotten anywhere with it :(

Use Ohana3ds (Not the rebirth one tho).

I tried that too but it when I open it, it either says it's not a valid file, or (when I drag the file over to the Ohana window) it just goes straight to the texture folder (I get the texture thing now thanks :) but how about modelling?)

To test making bcstm I made a bcstm of Darude Sandstorm.

Working Shine effect (It's just a wahwah effect instead of a gold chime).

No Leaf beats though.

Also don't know how to loop properly so it just loops back to the start.

Download

Nice :) is it for a level or is it for a title screen/world map?

I have stuff to show!! (But no way to show it :c )

If anyone would be willing to record some gameplay of my level for me, that'd be awesome

I can record it for you if you want, I can record it with Citra Emulator and then speedup it to the correct speed or with a camera using my 3DS but recording the Audio with an audio cable in my computer.

Does anyone know how to model hack a level background? I tried making a model for it and followed a tutorial on how to replace the background, but when I opened the game it would just have a black screen and the game wouldn't work at all. Can anyone help? Thanks

This isn't the place to ask these sort of questions

Here is me testing a couple of levels I'm working on. It's a bit hasty, as I have been out of the nsmb modding game for a few years now.
