Dunno. I honestly liked this harsh point system better. More challenge. MK7 & 8 you just needed to place first and that's it :v

I used peach for all the cups except for 100cc & 150cc for the extra lighting and special cups.

It's cryptic. I don't think it's fun when you get penalized for using the brakes or when a goddamn Boo hits you. At least the racer AI is extremely tame and even predictable where they use their items.

My sister used Toad for ALL cups and all cc's so yeah.

I also think there's little reason to play Super Mario Kart over Mario Kart Super Circuit aside from Koopa Troopa and Donkey Kong Jr..

P.S. DS's controls are... okay. It's just that in Battle mode, aiming with your shells is so freaking hard.

IMO DS's controls are the best in the series. Although I do agree, aiming green shells is very hard.

I think the standstill controls are a bit wonky too. They seem to make your vehicle slide around. In all games after this one, the vehicle is perfectly still.

I notice those things because I play a lot of battle mode. :P Otherwise, I find DS's controls inoffensive, but they can get annoying if you're using a heavyweight in mission mode that requires precision driving.

In response to the question in the thread title, you're not the only one.

I played the game a few times, but ended up not liking it. *shrug*

I might give it another chance later, but for now, MKW is my go to mario kart game. :P

Except for the part of MK64 has good controls, I agree with you. On my 3DS, its extremely slippery and you don't need icons to tell you directions. You should see for yourself.

No, it doesn't.

I played it with two other friends of mine yesterday, and I found it to be, well, as LeftyGreenMario said, very slippery. Grinding also sucks, I had a hard time with it. It was easier for me to just make big turns at the places where grinding should have been useful.

Maybe it all just depends on what games you've played first. MK7 doesn't feel slippery to me at all. At least from what I remember.

MK7 feels a little slippery to me, compared to DS and 8, but that can't compare to the insanely slipperiness of 64 or SC. That being said, NintendoFan is right, you'd probably feel different if you were growing up with the 2. MK64 is still my least favourite though.
