Recently, I've been hearing about this strange theory called the Mendela effect, some of you might know it, others might not, so I will paraphrase what it is about. So apparently the world ended back in 2010 or 2012 or whatever like all the crazy people said, and the world reinvented itself in another alternate universe, with small changes. 'Proof' of this is like how everyone remembers Star Wars, Dart Vader says, "Luke, I am your father," is actually, "No, I am your father." PROOF. It really was the first one, but when the universe ended, it changed. Mind blown. Except it isn't, because it's the most stupid theory I've heard of recently. And scarily enough, some people at my school believe this. Search up Mendela Effect, and you'll see why this is just a bunch of people refusing to be wrong. It's hilarious. ____________________ Stupidity is the bane of my existence. Why do you think I hate myself? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqPusGtpXOn2-HBXSOobhXw |

It's not really proof. I mean, there's nothing out there that explains why people from the "-ein" universe crossed over to the "-ain" universe and vice versa.
Also it's spelled "Mandela." ____________________ A nobody. |

Posted by StapleButter I'm not sure how to respond to this. Are you confused by my post, or by the entire thread? ____________________ A nobody. |

Posted by StapleButter The Mandela Effect is when people have memories that they are 100% for certain happened, but in reality, something's different from what they remember. It's called the "Mandela" effect because many people remember clearly that a man named Nelson Mandela died in prison, but in reality, he didn't. If it were just a few people, then that'd be a different story, but because so many people remember him dying, this conspiracy theory about parallel universes came up. According to the theory, people from the universe where Mandela is dead, crossed over unknowingly and unwillingly to this universe where he didn't, and vice versa. ____________________ A nobody. |

In other words, after I attempted to decipher the incoherent prose in the opening post, people's memories suck.
It's not a "new" phenomenon. There was one guy who swore that the Chain Chomp Fever minigame was a Mario Party 6 minigame while it's strictly a Mario Party 4 battle minigame, but he was like "no, I remember it vividly" and I was "well, you have a messed up copy of Mario Party 6". Also, people think the whole "play it again" line is famous, but it was never uttered in the movie. |

Posted by LeftyGreenMario Yeah, it's definitely not new, this sort of thing only came up about 6 years ago. Can you really just write it off as "people's memory suck?" How would so many people make the same mistake, and then be able to claim that they know for certain that that's what happened? ____________________ A nobody. |

Sorry my writing sucks. I just heard of it recently, and its stupid, so I made a thread. Sorry for my incompetence. ____________________ Stupidity is the bane of my existence. Why do you think I hate myself? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqPusGtpXOn2-HBXSOobhXw |

Posted by NintendoFan Yes I can. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_memory_biases In fact, it sounds like the illusory truth effect. It's why eyewitness testimonies and anecdotes aren't reliable. Quote.
It's why there is a phenomenon that children recall false memories of sexual abuse. It's why gaslighting is effective. It's why nostalgia blinds people. |

oh, I think I found some proof.
In the song The Champions (or We are the Champions, not really good with names) some people think the ending lyrics are, "We are the champions of the world!" but its actually,"We are the champions!" e |

Your "proof" sounds very vague.
1. Exactly how many people remember it that way? 2. Are they able to claim that with 100% certainty? ____________________ A nobody. |

The "Mandela Effect" is simply a result of the non-perfect memory of humans. Not a global conspiracy to rename things to confuse people.
