I hate this mario kart game. The controls are ass. Like they don't turn nice compared to a game like mario kart ds. It's hard to explain, bit the controls are really bad. I also don't like how there's no hills, but I can't really complain because it could be a hardware limitation. The maps are also really small too, and you go to fast sometimes. Combine that with the controls and you get a steaming pile of dog shit. Mario kart 64 had great controls and bigger maps for an enjoyable experience. MK64, Double dash, MKDS, MKWII, and mario kart 7 all have really great controls and big maps.(I haven't played MK8 or Super mario kart yet). But mario kart super circuit is unenjoyable.

That's why I hate the game.

There fine for me in MK64 and DD. The only problem in DD is the bad camera angles.

For someone who IS fairly accustomed to Super Circuit's controls, they control just like Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, but I think Mario Kart 64's is a lot, lot worse. Or they feel the same: very slippery. Double Dash just has wonky physics that makes Rainbow Road GCN difficult to race on because it's so goddamn bouncy. Rainbow Road GCN is broken course and I wonder how ANYONE likes that course. Heck, just go on the corkscrew area in your spare time (preferably in the Golden Kart), and drive slowly on the higher edge as if you're going to fall off. The kart then slides down and it clips halfway through the course and your character is teetering as if he's about to fall. What a horrible course.

]Frick, the controls for MK 64 are awful. And the remote too.

That's weird. When I play mk64 the controls feel a lot better than super circuit. I guess it's just me then.

Maybe you're just not accustomed to Super Circuit's controls, even though it plays pretty similarly, in my opinion. I still think in terms of drifting, Super Circuit is more like Mario Kart 7 and beyond, but it provides better feedback. In Mario 64, all you get is some character cheering and no visual or engine feedback. Ugh.

I love Mario Kart: Super Circuit. No one ever credits it when it comes to its AI, which is arguably the tamest AI in the series. They barely throw shells at you, and they don't even do boost starts.

Hell, I firmly think they drive in a pattern. When I was trying to triple star the Lightning Extra Cup, I can freaking predict at the right exact moment when a Boo will strike or when a guy will toss a red shell at me, mostly because of how many times I had to retry that cup in my attempts.

I personally enjoyed mario kart super circuit but if you want more detail about my opinion on this game then you can check out a review on my youtube channel that I did a while back, only if you want of course. My youtube channel is on my kuribo64 profile page.

MKSS is my fave mario kart for single players. I recently completed it with all 3 stars (yes, even the extra cups. Damn you extra lighting cup!)
The controls are weird at first, but they are more complex than current lame ones (like MK8)

Some tracks are big considering SMK which uses a similar system.

Seems like most people (including you) hate this game because they can't learn how to tackle the controls :P

MK64 controls are fine... for the most part. I hate DD more. (No jump...), but 8 sucks the most for me because you can't steer properly (if the game had better controls, 200cc would have been great)

Mario Kart 8's controls are a gajillion times better than Mario Kart Double Dash or Mario Kart 64's controls. 200cc IS great, you just have to learn to brake just like any realâ„¢ racing game. Of course, if you have the Wiichuck combo, you're pretty screwed.

Do you know how Mario Kart: Super Circuit ranks you, by the way?

I don't know. I hate 8 controls more. They just feel stiff (or maybe I'm just bored by the majority of new tracks)

And yes, theres this guide: https://www.gamefaqs.com/gba/371318-mario-kart-super-circuit/faqs/67255

Long story short, it's a point system. However, the conditions in which you lose points are punishing (go offroad, lose a point every frame. Hit the brake, lose points, stop accelerating, lose points. use a star or triple red shell, lose points, get hit by an item, lose points, hit walls or other NPCs, etc.)

Now, this ranking is not an issue in the super circuit tracks (is easy to get 3 stars, basically due to the fact the tracks are ample and allow room to do many mini turbos & item boxes, which increase points)

The main challenge of the game is 3 starring all the Extra (SMK) tracks.

Seriously, Lighting Cup and Special cup are a nightmare. You pretty have to use bowser, wario or DK or play perfectly with Mario or Luigi, to hope to earn those 3 stars.

My sister used Toad. ;P It took her so many tries, but she found it easier with Toad than the heavyweights. But yeah, that system is what they call bollocks. I'm glad they simplified the point system to just your overall score rather than how well you drive.

Mario Kart 8 to me felt fine, and I feel they aren't slippery as hell compared to Mario Kart 64 or Super Circuit. Heck, I think I prefer Diddy Kong Racing over Mario Kart 64.

Mario Kart Super Circuit is amazing. It has like 40 tracks and stays very true to the original. It's challenging as hell, the maps are memorable. Did I mention it has a surreal amount of tracks?

I think, like MK64, that the controls are very slippery. But if you spend a while playing it, you get used to it. It's a fun game after you get over the bad controls. Still, I found it harder to get used to the MK64 controls. Sure, the controls are nowhere near as good as DS's or 8's, but you get used to them over time. And I must agree with Anthe, it does have a lot of tracks, 48 I think. That's as many as MK8 plus DLC.

And saying the maps aren't very big or it has no hills is just like saying you hate SMK for its bad graphics. The GBA, IIRC, is only slightly more powerful than a SNES. MK64 had big, 3D maps, because the N64 could handle it. In fact, I think the game isn't even actual 3D. I'll have to check on that though.

This game is one of my least favourite MK games as well, but that's just from a lack of playing it. you can't say it's that bad. It is, without a doubt, at least better than SMK.

Dunno. I honestly liked this harsh point system better. More challenge. MK7 & 8 you just needed to place first and that's it :v

I used peach for all the cups except for 100cc & 150cc for the extra lighting and special cups.

More challenge is a bit of an understatement. You must sacrifice all your goats to Satan, pray to the Gods and give the game cartridge all your love and maybe then you'll get 3 stars.

I honestly enjoyed it.

I had to redo many times those 2 extra cups, hence more replayability.

There's not much RNG to disturb you. (unlike in newer games where the difficulty comes from not getting owned by the RNG)

It pretty much requires you to play perfectly to achieve the best core.

Besides, as mentioned. 3 starring the super circuit cups is easy (for the night time BG) The extra cups is where all the challenge comes.

True MKSC is very skill based. Im not a fan of the slippery controls. But the great tracks, amazing music, etc. make up for it
