I'm curious to see which text editors people here use. Reminder, these are not IDEs like Visual Studio or Qt Creator, they are just plain text editors with syntax highlighting.

Here's a quick overview of the choices here:
Notepad++ - Open-source free general text editor, go-to for quickly editing XMLs.

Atom (My choice) - Open-source, free, well documented API, very customizable via packages and themes, but steep learning curve.

Brackets - Open-source, free editor built for web development.

Light Table - Open-source free kickstarted flexible editor (I don't really know much about this one.).

Sublime Text - Closed-source $70 sophisticated fast editor with lots of features directly out of the box.

All of these editors are cross-platform.

Notepad ++, it comes with the Portable Apps engine and I like how it is very easy to use and simplistic.

this screenshot will say everything

It came with some version of HBCD as the default text editor, and I never really changed<!-- because I hate change --> as it mostly does everything I need.
You may or may not be able to recognize where I stole this grid background from.

I used plain Notepad for a while, but after someone bothered me enough I started to use Notepad++ for some stuff. Still mostly using Notepad.

Generally I didn't really need to use Notepad++, because I didn't have a use for it, but I'm starting a project that needs it :) It's a .bat project, and notepad++ automatically highlights the goto locations, variables and the echo command, which is super useful

My Notepad++, because everyone else is.
Also a slight view of my new project, EnCryptiX OS.

No, not quite. As I said, you'll see when it comes out. The picture I sent was a very early version.
(If you meant that it runs the Console, then yes, it does. It is text-based, and does not use sprites. )

Erm, what? It doesn't use sprites, I know what sprites are. They are the graphics that objects are displayed as AFAIK.

When was I trying to amaze you guys? I'm making a very basic and limited program that runs in CMD. Hardly going to impress anyone. Also what random technical terms, might I ask?
