A running gag could be funny, it doesn't need to be a "joke" perse, but maybe just something like every time we encounter the toads, their ship has been busted in some way, or one of the members is always missing, something like that.

I actually think it's a good idea, especially if NWP's "Cosmic Toads" are implemented.
