I don't understand why Android gets it later though. Why not release it at the same time? Is it because Apple pays a little more to get it released sooner? That's really the only thing I can think of.

Probably because Android is easier to hack and has more "vulnerabilities" than iOS (getting things like apps for free via . apk files, modifying the app itself and reinstalling it, etc)

Also the money is probably behind this too I'm guessing

Honestly, I think the game looks harmless but nothing I would play. Not a mobile game guy, and the endless runner-styled games don't appeal to me. I'm an android user but I don't think I'm missing out on much.

I think Android has more hardware and OS variation than iOS has, so they have to account for that. Also, Android is less locked down than iOS, so there are security issues to deal with.

I don't think it is an endless runner, seeing as it has levels. Unless the levels are just themes, like grassland, underworld etc.

It's not an endless runner.

That makes more sense (assuming that's true). It would take more time to develop for Android just as how it would take more time (in general) to localize for European versions.

It's a timed exclusive, so basically Apple is paying Nintendo to have it on their devices first for a certain amount of time before they can release it anywhere else.

Have a load of this shit

http://mashable.com/2016/12/08/super-mario-run-shigeru-miyamoto-interview/#9SeQeNc5WiqA

I learned today that Super Mario Run requires an internet connection to play. What's the reason for that? Are there any thoughts about an offline mode?
For us, we view our software as being a very important asset for us. And also for consumers who are purchasing the game, we want to make sure that we're able to offer it to them in a way that the software is secure, and that they're able to play it in a stable environment.

We wanted to be able to leverage that network connection with all three of the [Super Mario Run] modes to keep all of the modes functioning together and offering the game in a way that keeps the software secure. This is something that we want to continue to work on as we continue to develop the game.

But actually, the security element is one of the reasons that we decided to go with iPhone and iOS first. So this is just — based on the current development environment — a requirement that's been built into the game to support security and the fact that the three different modes are connecting to the network and interacting with one another.

We had thought at one point that it would be nice to have the World Tour [story] mode available standalone, to be able to play without that connection. But then the challenge is when that's operating in a standalone mode, it actually complicates the connection back to the Toad Rally and Kingdom modes. And because those two modes are relying on the network save, we had to integrate the World Tour mode as well.

Just to be clear: When you say "security," you mean the risk of piracy, right?
That's correct.

Unlike our dedicated game devices, the game is not releasing in a limited number of countries. We're launching in 150 countries and each of those countries has different network environments and things like that. So it was important for us to be able to have it secure for all users.

Oh, and you have 4 levels before you hit a paywall. Have fun shoveling 10 bucks... 10 complete American dollars for this thing.

10!?

10 dollars for a runner!? Geometry Dash costs 2 DOLLARS. And that is looking like a better game then Super Mario Run!

Yes, 10 dollars, you read that right.

And then, they're worried about piracy.

Oh. rip. I was actually considering buying it if it was maybe 2 dollars. I already spent 15 dollars this year on the MK8 DLC. No way am I going to buy this.

The fact that this thing is priced the same way to Mario Kart 8 both DLC packs is really sad.

10 dollars for an endless running NSMBU clone? LOL indeed Nintendo. Hope this backfires.

As I said, they then worry about piracy.

For goodness sake.

add DRM to the mix and you have the perfect product.

Nintendo seriously needs to learn to compete against piracy rather than implement bullcrap measures that affect paying consumers in a highly negative way in a pointless attempt to stifle it.

I'd root for the hackers if they can pirate this game and make it DRM-free because that product sounds a lot more appealing to me than a DRM-riddled, can't play it anywhere product.

Hopefully this means they wont make the supposed "Fire Emblem" and "Animal Crossing".
A lot of people were excited about Mario Run, then they go fuck it up with all this... Could of gone worst I guess.
