well, I got a crappy virus from the local printshop.

the commented version of the virus code

it is found without comments as an encoded VB script. 'active' version is stored on your computer as %TEMP%/SysinfY2X.db . 'passive' version is stored on USB drives as Manuel.doc .

it basically:
* spreads via USB drives and such.
* replaces files/folders with shortcuts that run it. uses some trickery to hide the actual files.
* is able to read the registry to figure out what icons should be given to the shortcuts.
* adds a registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SysinfY2X to make itself runnable
* modifies registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Hidden as an attempt to hide its crap
* contacts URLs http://realy.mooo.com/bot/lancer/index.php?cmd=<cmd> . supposedly updates itself. server is dead.

if you ever run it, it can be killed by killing any wscript.exe instances. but it will try to fuck up your files. it seems to follow a WinXP folder pattern.

it replaces the files at the root of any inserted USB drive with haxed shortcuts.

if some of your files became shortcuts, DO NOT OPEN THEM.

the virus is really crappy and easily defeated, but you never know when a 'better' version appears.


oh also, don't trust others' computers. ever. you'd expect printshop computers to be properly protected against USB drive viruses, right?

But on the contrary, I don't like the modern sports game as much. Ultra Smash is about a tenth of what made me like Power Tennis so much, and I fear that these games will be even more watered down.
