Yes, I also think yours is generic. Try something other than just a black sky with some stars. If you want a space theme, go further.

Alright, now I have added my layout back with a better color balance, along with it still being simplistic.

Any thoughts on it? Also, testing userlinks.

Your layout background is quite nice now, I don't think it needs to change. If you want usernames to be readable, just mess a bit with text-shadow: 0 0 3px #000; to your post's links using CSS and you should be fine.

Your layout looks pretty nice, I like how the text box is transparent and I can see the starry background in the back. But I would suggest some sort of universe wallpaper with galaxies instead of just a starry background, it looks much more dramatic and cool.

And you could also create a separate box for the signature and also mess with the quote stuff a bit and it would look even better.

MusiMasta your links are kinda hard to see, and the default purple username color is 100% unreadable.

it's a rather dull layout, it's two shades of the same color with a thin line of red separating them. you should probably consider finding a different color scheme, or a background image that a semi-transparent dark color would look good in front of.

I'll admit here that I have no CSS knowledge whatsoever, but I'll do a bit of researching and see if I can implement the transparency and the background. The layout is basically a recoloring of the one Tierage made in a thread in the site forum here.

Hint: W3Schools is a great place for that. Currently learning JavaScript through them.

I also made a complete post layout tutorial at SMWC but both the class names and the default CSS are different here so that doesn't work.

bad idea. you get a huge empty spot at the end of all your posts.

a min-height rule is a better idea.
