And my favourite part of summer: Mosquitos!
These things literally drive me insane at night. |

it's not as dumb as metric vs imperial, tho. Fahrenheit represents a good range of typical outside temperatures in a 0-100 range. And Celsius is based on the freezing and boiling points of water, which isn't really less arbitrary than anything else.
although Kelvin uses the same scale as Celsius, just with a different zero. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Posted by gridatttack Ye ik that was the joke Every time I hear someone saying a crazy number like over 60, I have to immediately think its fahrenheit. We have this guy to thank: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Gabriel_Fahrenheit Why would such a bad system be in use? |

I can actually read both temperatures.
I know that 40 degrees is really hot in California, but it also means the upper 90s too. I kinda just forced a switch to Celsius, and that's my reward. |

Posted by LeftyGreenMario Yep. And even in winter in California it gets hot by midday. There's like, a pool near the apartment I live in, and yet I can't go there. Ugh. discord: Sevvy#4212, twitter: @Sevvyuwu add me if you want, kinda shy tho |

It's been miserably hot where I live for weeks now and it looks like it will finally be cooling down in a few days. I hate summer.
Also, on the topic of measuring systems and such: I personally believe we should all use metric for weights and measures and Fahrenheit for temperatures, although I can see the advantages of Celsius/Kelvin for things like scientific study and Imperial measurements for casual use. Thankfully I know both systems pretty well (that's what happens when you move across half the continent seven times by age 15), so conversions aren't quite as inconvenient for me as they are for others. |

Meh, I prefer the Fahrenheit scale, but I like the metrics system better. Good thing they actually taught us that in school. I have no idea how to Celsius, lol |

USA and Belize and Liberia. Too stubborn, I guess. I don't know.
The USA is also one of only two countries (the other is Eritrea) who require their citizens to pay taxes to them even if those citizens are living outside the country. |

Posted by PixelDimension from what i've heard it's because converting all the signs and such would have cost billions the government didn't feel like spending not like that's a good excuse anyway, considering what government money is being spent on nowadays |

anyway, the results of my 6 days in this place so far:
* I already started tanning. my skin has a visible color difference, not much tho. * mosquito bites. not a lot, tho. maybe I can get actual tan if I keep exposing myself to actual summer weather for longer than the typical two-week vacations. or maybe I will just get sunburnt. This skin is nerd-white ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Posted by PixelDimension Oh where are you from? I had a similar experience in my life, 14 flights from/to Argentina - Canada. It's pretty tough, though here in Canada the metric system is mostly used, so I got lucky. Here it's mostly people in construction that use the Imperial system, scientists and engineers use metric. I'm pretty sure that is the case in USA too. |
