I think anime's appeal is that it has a niche for more mature viewers compared to the cartoons.

Cartoons are supposed to be silly :/ that's actually why I like them. Serious cartoons don't appeal to me at all.

I haven't watched cartoons in ages because
a) I don't watch TV or almost
b) most of the time there's someone watching something else
c) if we watched cartoons together, dad would criticize everything (it already sucks enough watching movies with live commentary from Captain Obvious)


I would watch shit like Tex Avery cartoons again. Or anything that isn't downright stupid.

watching cartoons as kids had two possible scenarios:

a) parents watching cartoons with us, rare (but hey, Tex Avery cartoons scored success)
b) FUCK OFF WE WANT TO WATCH TODAY'S DRAMATIC NEWS


playing videogames was fun too, given the computer was shared and in the same room as the TV:

playing game, normally
TURN OFF THE SOUND!! I CAN'T HEAR HOW MANY PEOPLE DIED IN THE LATEST BOMBING!!
turning off sound, game experience now sucks
TURN OFF THE DAMN THING!! JOYPAD CLICK NOISES ARE ANNOYING!!!!

I stopped watching cartoons along time ago, TV started to fail to lose it's grip on my attention years ago, and now I don't really turn on my TV, unless I'm playing on a home console, or on the rare occasion that I do watch TV.

That's my dad and my mom in a nutshell. They don't appreciate sound in video games.

Besides, what meaningful stuff do TV news even give you? Because they're not very informative in my opinion.
