So, I ran chmod xxx -R / on my Linux by accident and now it's a brick, and since I formatted my USB, it no longer has the install disk on it, and my only other computer is a school issued Chromebook which I can't make a bootable USB with unless there's some online tool. I have no idea what to do...

Because I thought it would only format the directory I was in, I didn't realize that the su command automatically put you back at the root directory.

under Linux, / is the root, and thus any path starting with a / is absolute

Yeah, I didn't know that.

Though, how do I recover?

no idea, have you googled? pretty sure Linux has ways of recovering your system or atleast getting a basic root-level shell

Well, the computer starts with an error, and it thinks all the system folders are files, so I can't execute hardly anything.

well you're in some pretty deep shit.

I'd tell you to grab a Linux ISO or whatever, but considering all you have is a Chromebook and those are worthless consumer toys, well

You want a chrome-os pc? Thats all you are getting if you have a chromebook. My suggestion is to ask a friend/parent/someone you know to help you because otherwise you really are not getting anywhere.
