"friend" in gaming really means "you can join their games"

"friend" online really means acquaintance at best and complete stranger you only keep around to inflate your ego at worst

really the word has different connotations depending on where it's used

"You don't go up to a stranger and ask him if you want him to be your friend"

that's what kids do at kindergarten/elementary :P

I only accept requests from people I know IRL; that's also why I don't give my facebook in this part of the internet, because I know derps would send me requests and try to contact me (typically those suckup derps who desperately want to be your friend)

And those kids are the same exact kids who probably would want to friend random strangers on the internet.

For me, a "friend" is someone I shared extensive conversations with. A "friend" is also someone I game with too (I'm not an online gamer, I don't play with randoms). That's just how I see it.

I'm glad to have communities where people do care about my issues and we feel comfortable talking about personal stuff to each other. That's more like it. That's why I keep coming back to them. I don't have much friends in real life because it feels really hard to find devoted Mario fans, but the Internet is perfect to find them.

you have to diversify yourself and do other things, things that real life people will also be interested into

Birding might be one of them, but I don't see a lot of people my age that are interested in birding. :<

BTW, I have no idea what the hell Smogon did but their previous revision of their Pokemon chart is 50 million times better than the current one. It's laggy and slow as hell and I hate it.

Whatever happened to the older, simpler table that didn't lag the scrolling and thus wasn't absolute misery to find stats on the Pokemon you wanted?

Code wasn't hip enough! They had to trash it and rewrite it to follow the new hip practices of 2016.

Is this what hipster coding does to your websites? Slow it down to a crawl?

My brother is going to PAX for a week, and he's taking my laptop with him, so I get to use his desktop gaming computer.
I still have no idea how I'm gonna get used to such big monitors, and three of them :P
image linked to because huge

He's also giving me access to his Steam library, and since it's a gaming computer, I can finally play Rocket League at a quality that doesn't look like trash.

Zarel got lazy I guess, so he handed the job to some other admin that wasn't capable of making it better

I liked Pokemon Showdown/Smogon better in 2014

Ugh, new Smogon sucks ass. It even warns you what browser it supports. And once you're in the list, the scrolling lags a lot.

That sounds so ironic. Something that tries to be "modern" ends up reminding you of Netscape 4. :P

We should probably bring it up to their attention on the Smogon forum, but I'm sure other users already have, and I actually left Smogon for good reasons, so...

Why?

I don't think I'll like it over there. The community is too overwhelming.

no need to constantly quote the post right above yours ;)

maybe we can help them, but it all depends on who is at the command

if they're stubborn, not much you can do

why do ARM and SNES assembly instructions yell at you

PowerPC is calm, but the others like to yell and it makes me sad :(
