A thread dedicated to this may prove helpful.
However, let me start with my own Blargboard/Acmlmboard/ABXD-related question: How can I add JavaScript to a theme? Say, I got all the CSS stuff but I also need to import a handful of JavaScript files. I've seen that RoadrunnerWMC was able to do that on RHCafe.us.to. |

What I meant is that I could probably understand 90% of it which has proven correct for now.
Can you please try to help me? |

Can you please stay on topic? I asked for help, not for your opinion about if you think you should help me or not.
If you're not going to help, then don't even bother, and don't ask for drama. *sigh* |

Posted by Aidan Lumina he's not asking for drama, it's literally topic-related because you claim you understand PHP and shit, so adding a reference to javascript is simple. also, you're not a mod, so you can't give commands like that ____________________ a |

I have a more serious question, directed for StapleButter:
If you were to continue Blargboard, what would you do to stop the creation of derpboards with it? Registering on derpboards simply to critcise them using junk names will just result in more being made by the derp... I like Blargboard and its simplicity, and wish you could still work on it, because it was immature owners that ruined it. Perhaps work on getting it known outside of the Nintendo ROM hacking community? However a lot of serious admins would be like 'oh, this is by someone who works on this in their free time, and it doesn't have X 'professional' feature, so it's useless', that would be hurtful considering it's not a pile of heavy, badly-coded trash like vBulletin 4 or 5 is. |

I know it's not my question, but I'd just let derpboards continue run their course. I feel there's no need to try to stop the creation of derpboards since they'll happen regardless. I believe going into them and criticizing them can be fun and be a test of your faith in humanity, but the important thing is that Blargboard works and isn't a bloated thing like vBulletin or Xenforo.

trying to prevent derpboards is like trying to censor the Internet, it's a waste of time and energy
the best one can do is make Blargboard harder to install I guess, but eventually there'll be a 'smart idiot' to figure it out and help the other idiots so, once the Pandora box is opened, it's too late. now you know why this Acmlmboard isn't public. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

or you could put a very secure backdoor into the code.
But then again, so much could go wrong there. But the good thing is, you're the only one working on it, so there's less a probability that anyone gets ahold of the backdoor? Basically, perhaps a specific varible/text you enter the fields of register.php that blows up the board? But there's a problem there too, because some other 'smart idiot' could look into the code and figure it out/remove it so it'd have to be hidden really well, but be able to function it's pretty hard and not worth dealing with just for the sake of derpboards not existing, tho |

StapleButter: And then, you get ranted at for providing a piece of crap in security and clean code. |

'provided as-is, no guarantee'
that has worked for ages with Acmlmboard. But for Blargboard, it was originally reasonably secure, so it wouldn't work (and I wouldn't use Swiss cheese software for my own board) ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Posted by StapleButter This is exactly the reason why I didn't make my Forum Software's source code public. But unlike AcmlmBoard 2.064, mine is based off a closed source Forum Software (that got discontinued), mixed with an open source CMS System. Therefore, most of the Code isn't public, while the majority of this Forum's code can be found in the 'mainstream' AcmlmBoard code (I think). |

What's funny is AB 2.064 has some better features than AB 2.1.x and AB 2.5.x. For example, PM threads, the description next to the items in the item shop is showing and you don't have to click on it..
And this board doesn't need tons of permissions crap, it can be simple and work It's good for this board. It might not be for others, but it works |

Posted by Yami ... yes and no. A lot of our code is original, but it was rewritten/rearranged to get rid of bad practices and other things, namely: * sanitizing inputs explicitly and properly instead of relying on magic_quotes * some fixes to code that relied on register_globals * reversed code for forms. Original Acmlmboard goes "if no action requested, display the form, else do the action and display a redirect or an error page if it failed". This board goes "if an action is requested, do it and send an instant redirect or raise an error flag if it failed. then display an error message if an error flag was raised, then display the form". Which allows for instant redirects and better error reporting. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Oh, I see, thanks for the explanation!
But, why would you call it "AcmlmBoard", while most of the Code is original? I know it's based on it, but still... |
