(I'm not sure it's the most appropriate Category.)

Super Mario Kart 3D is a little Project of mine, as I'm remaking Super Mario Kart in 3D.
I was originally going to re-create Mario Kart DS instead, but that was way to much work, and to unoriginal.
That's why I choose SMK instead.

Latest Gameplay:

Download:
As soon as I have more stable Gameplay, and more Tracks.

TODO:
- Lakitu
- More players
- Karts
- More Tracks
- Working GUI
- Final GUI
- Item Boxes
- Item Roulette
- Multiplayer (if possible at all)
- Manual (if wanted)
- Main Menu
- Title Screen
- Ending Credits
- Cup ending
- Ranking
- Results
- Probably more I'm missing out.

This looks interesting. Good luck!

Are the models going to be the same as the old version or are they going to be new-ish?

Depends on how well I can rip those from MK7 (the Kart placeholder you see in the Video is a rip from MK7), but I think I'd better rip those BRRES Files on Tockdom for Kart Models, but I don't know how.

Track Models are going to be rips of MKW, and MK7 CTs in the first place, filled in with new Models where needed.

Little progress today, and therefore, there'll be no Video for today.
My biggest work today was with the Fonts, though, as I had to remake those in Illustrator.

Changes
First off, I've implemented new Kart Models (thanks Stewie1.0).

Don't be to bothered about the Textures, it's the way the 3DS displays them, somehow.

Next, I've implemented Coins.

Then I've implemented Jugem/Lakitu as a Countdown decoration (thanks SGC):

Then I've implemented brakes and backwards driving (in both cases, it's the B Button).

And finally, I've implemented the Pause Screen:

What are you writing this in exactly?

I knew this Question would come up, sooner or later...
I won't expose everything off the bat, but it uses C# Scripting (not to be confused with Visual C#).
However, the Compiler automatically turns it into C++.

Like Unity, or is this Unity? It certainly reminds me of it.

I had a feeling due to the skybox clipping with the blue background, either way its interesting. I've heard a lot about unity on the 3ds but I have no idea where it is exactly and the only info I could find on it was a few news articles saying the new 3ds would support it.

I was under the impression you needed to be an approved developer to obtain the platform specific tools for Unity. How'd you manage that?

At first I was thinking this was the product of some seriously advanced Home Brew SDK, but Unity is much better.

Whoever gave me a copy of this Unity Version wants me not to say who, how, where, etc., since their Company is under NDA.
But let's say, I have a couple of good friends, being an approved Developer, they're from all over the world.

Wouldnt that make it New 3DS only?

No. Despite the "official word".

Ah, that makes sense. Either way it is interesting and the game looks good. Keep up the good work.

Nope, it works fine on an old 3DS as well, but with greater limitations.
For example, I can't use to fancy Animations or Functions, or the old 3DS will cry.

What's the point of making a game no one will be able to play? Or can you compile it as a CIA and distribute it?

Okay, just be really careful with that.

I don't claim to know anything about Unity, but I'd figure that games would leave some sort of marker to indicate the developer. And the editor doesn't utilize some kind of DRM?

You can compile it as CIA, and there's a way to convert Development CIA to Retail CIA, and vice versa.
So you will be able to play it, in the end.

I used to think like that as well, but no, there isn't.
The License is the exact same for all Unity for New 3DS copies (can also be used as a Pro License for the regular Unity Editor), and the only DRM that can be implemented, is the DRM Nintendo implements after Lot Check.
