I dont like Windows 10. Freezes my computer whenever I get a notification, Uses alot more memory then window 7 from what I can see, Its built in windows defender deletes any file I download even Microsoft files and my disk drive only started working after I had to reset my hardrive. I can't downgrade to windows 7 because my only disks are 64 bit.

Than again I have a semi crappy laptop but still its horrible compared to windows 7.

I also noticed that when I got Windows 10 on my computer, the performance had plummeted a lot. It can hardly run most games, and this computer was fine a year ago. I'd rather have Windows 8 with a shit start screen than Windows 10 with a new mountain of other issues.

Weird, I had the reverse experience, as soon as i installed 10, everything was faster. On my desktop it was probebly because it was a fresh install to a new partition, but on my laptop It was one of the installs that doesn't touch your files, yet I still saw speed improvements. Maybe my laptops a case of the placebo effect.

Or Tierage's PC just acts like that, my Tablet also got speed improvements, when going from 8.1 to 10.

Another thing I don't like about Windows 10 it is always reenabling windows defender if you don't chose to get windows review your files meaning when I turned it on yesterday some of my programs are gone and a few other files. I need to go and redownload them.

it's not Windows Defender's doing

Windows 10 goes out of its way to remove programs it deems incompatible (read: programs Microsoft doesn't like)

That might be true but it did re-enable windows defender and gave me the message "Windows Defender Is Removind Malware"

might be a coincidence, but at the same time not, knowing Microsoft's latest load of bullshit

Like Windows Photo Viewer. When they replaced it with the annoying metro Photos app, for a while I just set my default image viewer to paint until I found some registry editing options that let me bring back the normal photo viewer.

It's like they're making problems because they're bored.

they want to push the Metro crap, it's one of the steps towards turning PCs into consumer toys like what smartphones and tablets are

I wonder how long it'll take them to figure out that the changes they are making, are more annoying than they are useful? You can only go so far with something until you can't go any further without forcing it to, and Windows has reached that point.

One thing that I've done to make my Windows 10 less annoying is using one of those programs that removes (some) of Microsoft's bullshit.

It's better than nothing, I guess

Why won't we just switch to Linux, and make all the Hacking Tools available for it?
I mean, it's not like complaining about Windows 10 will solve your problems in the next big Update...

So every day at school I turn on my laptop, plug in the external monitor and set it to only output there. As the laptop's screen is 1920x1080 and has a much higher DPI than the external screen, Windows scales everything up to match that DPI, but then when I plug in the external monitor it has to scale back down and this happens.

It seems like the only way to fix it is to log out and back in with it set to only output to the external monitor, or to just entirely disable the scaling feaure which I don't want to do either as I'd like to be able to read the text on the screen when not using an external monitor.

That might not be such a good idea, because people might lose interest in ROM hacking if it means that they have to download an entire OS just to do it, not to mention that there are younger people who might be interested in ROM hacking, and don't have their own computers, or might not be too experienced.

Or write them using something cross-platform like Qt so the user can use whatever OS they want.

this.

but there's still a long way to go

and given the way Windows is going, it will have to happen

Jumping on the Windows 10 hate bandwagon :D
So, I had to hex edit something, so I bring up the start menu, and type HxD.
[thumbnail]
Nothing comes up. Weird.
I press enter to search my stuff, and decide to time it. I let it search for almost 10 MINUTES. Absolutely nothing.

Now, I have to dig it up from program files, and I decide to pin it to the Start Menu by dragging it.
[thumbnail]
It doesn't let me. Why? I wouldn't know, because screw error messages.
The worst part?

Normally, you right click on an exe, and select Pin to Start Menu, and when you go into the Start Menu, it'll appear after a few seconds.

In my case, I would select that option for HxD, go into the Start Menu, and wait a few seconds. That's right, you get NO INDICATION that you're not allowed to pin that program.

Fine, screw those shortcuts, I'll launch it from all apps.
[thumbnail]
Still not there.
(note that this IS NOT exclusive to HxD)

I run sfc /scannow.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them.

WHAT.
I did sfc /scannow, and that happened, so, I want through the tedious process of downloading a Windows 10 ISO, and running 5 other commands. After a restart, sfc didn't report any errors. That was SEVEN DAYS AGO.

Someway, somehow, in between now and then, part of Windows 10 got corrupted (Note that I haven't gotten any viruses since then, or ever on this installation).

Oh yes, also, whenever you want to make a File Dialog, Windows 10 pollutes the console.

I've had so many problems with the start menu that I've just resorted to pinning every program I use to the taskbar. It's a cluttered mess, but at least it works.

because it's a desktop program -- you're supposed to get a Metro hex editor :DD

or not, dunno
