1. Captain Falcon - my main main

2. Mario - the guy I use if above didn't work

3. Little Mac - 4-player/team matches... will also use Cloud, I guess

In terms of the characters you listed, avoid doing too many gimps, you could SD or get staged spiked, and their recovery isn't great.

For falcon, I recommend doing plenty of dash grabs (make sure you pummel) into down throws, and once at 50 to 60% down throw into knee of justice near the edge. If you knock them off the stage stand at the edge and up tilt, it spikes.

For Mario, use a few down throws into up tilts into up airs, that's his best damage buildup combo. For kills either use back throw or fludd+cape.

General advice: Don't go for risky spikes, don't taunt, and don't be too predictable. Also use the shield-dodge (input down while shielding) as it can avoid all forms of attack, and has very little lag (shields have lag), so if you can predict when they strike, you can punish them for it.

Don't take everything I've said here as a rule book, the best way to play is to experiment and see what strategies work for you. The best thing to follow is the simple rule: "adapt or die". If you see a pattern in what your opponent does or in what you do, change what you do to throw the opponent off and get some free hits. For example, if you do plenty of side-smashes, and they start countering them, do the normal side-smash setup, and then delay, they will counter, and you get a free hit at the end of the counter.

It also seems that all of your characters are rush down or similar. Try to use a character with spacing.

Study on all the characters too.

Well, my main crusades are over.

>My Falcon got bodied on For Glory

@NoThisIsStupider
I know you said not to take what you said like a rule book, but I didn't listen
>Had enough time to Mario for about 10 matches
>Destroyed spamming Corrins, Clouds, and Baes (FUGGIN BAE'S Up+B!!)

>the salt when double stocked a Corrin with FLUDD + Cape, and he disconnects

Needless to say, I'm REALLY confident in my Mario now. Thanks guise!

The way I see it, you got to be able to beat the "good" players and the spammers.

I never said I was like, ZeRo level or anything anyways, just enough to beat the guys in the tournament.

It's uhh... not that big a tournament...

So yeah... that tournament was a bust.

4-player matches, 3 stocks, 8 minutes, no items, omega stages, about 30 entrants, all n00bs

Literally just used Little Mac to win the whole thing.

You honestly learn nothing from "tourneys" such as these LOL.
My old high school had a Smash tourney recently and they wanted me to come and help but it was so badly organized (I was the only one with a GC adapter so that slowed things down) AND the concept of it was terrible.

2 stock, dubs, your partner is random, team attack off, no stock time ("because matches need to finish??? what?) each player bans a character that cannot be played for that match, 1 team decides if they want to get first character ban or stage choice (between legal stages).

^Obv being able to choose between legal stages is MUCH more powerful benefit than banning a character first. Everyone kept choosing first character ban against me and my partner (obv Ness was banned for me each time after I got to play my first set with him rofl) but they honestly didn't matter cause I use SO many characters fairly well. =P

For a legit tourney, you need to enter with a positive mindset. Not the FG mindset "oh hey I can handle FG, and I spent so many hours into the game, that obv means I'm good", but one that is willing to let you learn and adapt. You should know your character as much as you can (along with the fundamentals such as spacing, playing the neutral, weighing risk vs. reward, etc.), find what works and doesn't work and try to pick up on habits that other players have. You WILL get bodied at your first tournament (I was at mine rofl), but you gotta have the drive to keep growing and working in order to improve. Competitive Smash is primarily about decision making, not just "lol let's throw out random stuff hoping it works". (I.e. it's not just hitting buttons, but also having the proper mindset and being able to break your own bad habits, I know I still have quite a few habits along with some mindset issues)

Also please remember to take care of yourself. That means bringing food and staying well fed, bring healthy snacks and some sugars (PLEASE stay away from fast food if you can if you normally feel "funky" or get bloated relatively easily after eating something greasy-ish like a burger from McDonalds or some kinds of pizza), staying hydrated (I usually keep at least 3 bottles of water) and try your best to stay calm (IF you're not reliant on game SFX or you can't hear the game anyway, music MIGHT help you but experiment, each person is different and I don't cause I need sound lol) and REMEMBER to have fun in the end. Bring your cell phone and charger if you got one, and if you have strict/worrying parents, please contact them and update them throughout your day, try to estimate when you'll be home.

If you have an issue regarding stress, ALWAYS speak to someone. The Smash comm. is VERY friendly and I've had so many anxiety/stress issues and they've mostly been resolved each time cause I spoke to people. You don't want to play feeling stressed out! ;)
^I personally still have stress issues, like in a tournament environment I tend to find myself using the washroom WAY more than I should be (throughout the whole tourney) so obv I need my nerves to relax somehow (and music isn't the answer for me sadly, I feel I actually do worse trying to listen to it rofl).

But you know... I went from being that "random free teen who uses Ness" to "best Ness in Canada" to "#9 on Power Ranking" and "the fan favorite in Ottawa"! ;)

I like how Corri plays. Might main him. Shulk just doesn't cut against the top tier characters that are everywhere.

I have to wonder, what ranking system do you use? I feel that one we have here is meh.

This one seems to be the most accurate.

For the US, at least.

No, I don't mean tier lists.

I mean the ranking system someone gets depending on the position/place they ended in the tourney.

@Timmy

In your opinion, do you think the 'best' Ness could beat the 'best' Zero Suit Samus?

What do you think about the match-up?

IMO I think it is 55-45 ZSS' favor. Many Ness mains believe the MU is in our favor due to ZSS' lack of solid approach options (and her high short hop) along with Ness' short hurtbox and Magnet forcing her to approach. I personally do not think it is in our favor as her frame data is excellent and has the mobility to move in and out with ease and Ness is SLOW. But we punish hard and ZSS dies fairly early.

Shaky has beaten NickRiddle's ZSS, and he didn't win vs Nairo's but still put up a hell of a good fight.

@Gridattack: Already answered you on Discord so lol

ZSS approaches with fastfall nair to make up for her jump hight tho.

Also, how did diddy and greninja get nerfed, but cloud didn't, bayo's got a 48% combo AND a 0-death, and corrin... that counter is the only thing op about him/her/dragon/it.

I mean, I could counter a fully charged falcon fsmash with mac, take a shit ton of damage and not die.

Fuggin corn over here. I was at 20%, he at 100. I half-charged an fsmash, he countered, I took 60+ damage and died.

TELL ME HOW THAT'S NOT OP!1

Have you seen Corrin with platforms (esp. on Battlefield)? LOL
Dragon Lunge and Nair offer amazing coverage there.

(I'm not complaining that it's OP but the possibilities are amazing, so much mobility and safety)

And I have died at 50% from Corrin's counter by throwing a regular Turnip with Peach (he had 125% rage) but honestly I wasn't even mad rofl. I don't really think it's smart to charge a move vs someone with a counter anyway. =P

It's like me complaining about a counter when I sent a PK Flash, there's obv not 2 and a half secs of start-up.

Naw, Corn-Cob is actually really easy to beat. While all of his attacks combo into eachother at low ppercents, he relies on smashes later on. Or dat fugin counter.

His combo potential is really low anyway, getting only a few hits per string.

All his attacks are actually as weak as Sheiks, minus the HUGE combo potential.

Now Bayo almost stole Anti's spotlight at HouseOf3000. That's a feat there. He brought out his famous Mario and won in the end though.

Wrong. Only the combo potential might be true, but Corrin has many things to kill you other than the Smashes. Wait more till you see all the character :P

Weak as sheik? Bair and Uair say hi.
