Why do you think, that 3DS Cartridges will survive 100 years, while GB and GBC Cartridges can barely keep their saves working, after 10 years?

3Ds carts have more chance than GB and GBC cartridges.
GB and GBC cartridges use a battery to keep the save file, s it runs out.

But still, I heard that apparently there's also a limit on cartridges on how many times they can save.

Both carts can survive if the adequate handling is applied though.

yeah, they use all sorts of flash memory chips and those have a limited amount of write cycles, they should last fairly long though

I do, yes. Thank you anyway.

I want my games physical. Because I own them. In a 100 years they'll still work, since they won't be tied to any kind of system. Yes, you can call Nintendo and have them relink your account or what not, but will this still be an option in a 100 years?

Not that there'll be a chance that in a 100 years I'll play my 3DS, but it's nice knowing they will be available.

Well, if you lose the system, and you can't call nintendo anymore, you can always install an emunand and import (official sdk term) the cias of what you lost.

Quick question:

Is there any point, other than CFW and .cias, to downgrading to 9.2?

Oh, you were unbanned!

Anyways, other than those 2 mentioned above, you can use the old browser exploits.

Downgraded to sysnand 9.2, and installing unsigned cia to the sysnand.

Seems to run smoothly, but I'm a little worried about that emunand stuff.

Edit: Never mind, this has blown up in my face.

I WARN YOU ALL, CREATE AN EMUNAND AND A SYSNAND BACKUP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!

Seriously, I'm searching here, but finding nothing (Gateway aside) that 9.2 can't do.

Also, what's so special about Ninjhax1?

All 3DS's below 10.4 are equally hackable, since you can use sysupdater to go from 9.2 sysnand to 4.5 sysnand. I'm not sure what the use of 4.5 (I think that's the latest version stablehax works on, don't quote me on that) but you can probably do a few cool things.

well, nope

the original idea was to provide Citrolution, a 3DS Riivo-like

but Ninjhax1 broke APT and other things in a way that rendered Citrolution impossible

Staplehax would have been an alternative Ninjhax1 that doesn't break those things and makes Citrolution possible

but then smea came up with HANS which basically does what Citrolution was meant for, so there was no point continuing

(and as usual, annoying obstacles tended to ruin my motivation)

also, fun fact: Staplehax was originally named Legohax because it was like Lego bricks, it took the Ninjhax1 base (the part that exploits Cubic Ninja and gains code exec) and plugged into libkhax (a library for gaining kernel access), allowing things to be done more cleanly than with rohax & co.

easier said than done though, it was nothing like assembling Lego bricks

the name was changed because it caused confusion, many people thought the hack involved a Lego game

I wanna get 3ds homebrew working so I can play 3ds hacks. But I have 2 issues. 1. I don't know how safe it is. 2. I'm not allowed to download things onto my 3ds, so I'd need to sneak it on without my parents(or sister) knowing. Any idea how I could overcome these issues? I am pretty confident that the software it's self is safe, but I don't want something to sneak in while I'm downloading it to my 3ds for obvious reasons. Just trying to be clear on my problems here. Thanks!

1. It's completely safe—just stay away from tools like sysUpdater, etc.
2. You need to put some files on the SD card, no way around that. You'll need to extract the starter kit from here to the root of your SD card. To launch homebrew you can use browserhax as described on the page and then install menuhax, which the others using the 3DS shouldn't notice unless they hold the button combination to trigger it.
