Interesting.

But I will wait for a while.
I don't have any other 3DS and can't buy another ATM.

I plan on getting the normal new 3ds somewhere in the future.

Is there any advantages for downgrading from 9.9 to 9.2, or does this only apply to people on the latest firmware?

IIRC you can install .CIA files in 9.2 with FBI.

Other than that, dunno what else can be done in 9.2 worth downgrading.

So in other words, not really worth it...
Since HANS came out, there's no real use for using ROMs anymore, unless you're one of those thieves, thinking that it's okay to not pay for your Games (which is in fact as okay as to not pay for your food at the Supermarket).

Actually, the best use is the dynamic recompiler, which allows for faster emulation (ps1 on n3DS, snes and gba on o3DS). You also have a lot more power for homebrew making, and can put homebrew on your home menu where it will look nice. It's not only for pirates.

I'd much prefer CIA installation without a CFW. Probably less brick-prone. Messing with the system stuff was certainly brick-prone on the Wii.

This may sound really silly but I'm seriously too lazy to switch my game cartridges. Also, I don't like taking carrying cases with me with a bunch of games because I'd risk to loose them all. Would rather leave all of them at home and have a digital copy on my device itself.

I agree with anthe on this one. I already own a copy of ACNL on cartridge and because of that I don't play it that much, so I may install a digital version to have it more readily available. I'm definitely buying games digitally from now on, but for the games I already own on cartridge it might be nice to install them as digital copies

And you both do realise, there's something called an "eShop" nowadays?
It got nearly all Cartridge Games as a digital copy, and even digital-only Games on there!

So no, this excuse was probably valid for the DS, but it's no longer valid for the 3DS.

Well, some people get the cartridge versions of games as gifts, get it in a bundle, ect. Plus, Spacey said in the post that you that he would be buying games from the eShop, you even quoted it yourself.

I agree on that one, it's sad that Nintendo requires you to re-buy your Cartridge Games, if you want to have them digitally.
On the other hand, if a Conversion Tool would officially exist, you may as well just borrow a Cartridge from someone else, and you'd get a game for free, unless that Tool will as well destroy the Cartridge data, which isn't even possible on Production Cartridges.

As for me, I only prefer Pokémon games, and super rare games (Prototypes, Kiosk Demos, etc.) as Cartridges, but I still prefer digital Versions of all the other games.

What if the eShop is not supported where you live? :v
Mine has nothing on it, only games update.

Still, just changed region to US so I'm fine.
Most people I know that pirate games are from third world countries, where games are sold for 150% or more the standard retail (3DS games being 60$ or more) and the above eShop problem, with no way to get a prepaid card.

Well, I always lived exclusively in First World Countries, so I couldn't know that.
Not to mention that Japanese 3DSs only have Japan as an available Country.

I hate to be the guy who asks for stuff, but can anyone extract a romfs of Animal Crossing New Leaf and PM me?

Sure, I still need to dump that game anyways.

Tomorrow, I might be able to do it. I'll send you a PM when it's uploaded to Drive.

But that's piracy though isn't it?

I'm actually not too sure if you can consider that "illegal/piracy" or not. Besides, it won't be publicly shared. I only need it because braindump refuses to extract New Leaf into romfs, because unfortunately, I don't have the greatest amount of space on my SD to export it.

I do, yes. Thank you anyway.

I want my games physical. Because I own them. In a 100 years they'll still work, since they won't be tied to any kind of system. Yes, you can call Nintendo and have them relink your account or what not, but will this still be an option in a 100 years?

Not that there'll be a chance that in a 100 years I'll play my 3DS, but it's nice knowing they will be available.
