So, I'm currently trying to get my own hacks working, buut I've run into an issue with Hans, whenever I try to start up NSMB2 I end up with the left third of the screen covered in trash, and a small rainbow line slightly to the right of the center of the screen.
I have tried with and without a custom romfs, when I try without the romfs after a couple seconds on the trash screen it just goes to the standard "An error has occurred" screen but when I try with the custom romfs it just stays at the trash.

So, does anybody know what the issue is here? I'm using an o3ds, if that helps.

Make sure that your version of Hans is updated, grab it from here. In the first few releases, NSMB2 was broken for everyone.

If it still doesn't work, then it's probably a problem with your romfs.bin.
Make sure that:
- It's in the right location (/hans, not /3ds/hans)
- You did every step
- You didn't mess around with the Region and Language

I got this error a lot when doing this, and if none of those work, the best thing you can do is restart the process.

Oh, I could swear I had the newest version, I downloaded it less than a week ago.

Well, major idiot here, don't mind me.

Thank you for the help XP

Make sure you always get official stuff. My first experience with SM64DSe was one from (I think) Skelux's site which was a super old build with tons of stuff missing.

Trash on the screen is competently normal and expected. Crashing, however, is not. I've successfully played custom levels by using a tool called "RomFS Builder" to build a modified xxxxxxxx.romfs, maybe you should try it?

And also, post all your steps and system info. And BTW, I used NoThisIsStuppider's guide, try that.

If you want to know how to extract the CXI, see this post.

As for your problem, did you try the troubleshooting steps I posted above?

Update your Starter Pack and payloads, make sure the romfs in use is made correctly, or just downgrade your 3DS and use layeredfs which is way easier.

I think I have the starter pack from 22nd mars. Does there exsist any newer build of it? In that case I would really like to have a link to it.

Get it off the homebrew launcher site smea made, nowhere else. Make sure *hax says 2.7 at the top, as it isn't updated if it doesn't.

Where do I see if I'm on 2.6 or 2.7?

This screen:
[thumbnail]
Yes, I'm aware of the quality, I'm not bothering to grab a good quality picture because this screen disappears after a second (Right before the Homebrew Launcher boots).

Either way, download this (That link should always point to the latest version), and extract the contents of the starter folder to the root of (Not in any folder) your SD card.

If you're still having trouble, post a picture of the hans folder on the root of your SD Card.

I've redownloaded the starter kit several times and it has always been on the root of the SD-card I've extracted it to.
And inte the folder SD:/hans is my file 0007af00.romfs and a romfs for SM3DL.

I have no idea why it doesn't work for NSMB2 because I tried with SM3DL and it worked fine...

Judging from the filesize of the 0007af00.romfs everything looks fine...
