Welp, it seems after the past week or so my CP2 class phased out java entirely, we were assigned a new book (we just use books in pdf form for those wondering) and java hasn't been mentioned since September. Now its just javascript.

In other news my English teacher is partial towards the cheerleaders (she is the cheer coach), to the point where they can not possibly fail the class as they have practically infinite time to turn in any assignment while everyone else doesn't. Another good example, we had an assignment where we were the prosecution/defense on a fake court case and we had to persuade the judge (teacher) that we were right. The group of cheerleaders not only broke the rules that were set, and they assumed some things to be true without evidence that it was true, yet they were still given the win because the group I was in "didn't really convince her".

Well, politics really are just about who can tell the best story.

One of the things I noticed with these sorts of things is the its is a lot easier to reaffirm someones initial biases, than to change their view completely. That is why I find some arguments are pointless because the people in conflict wont change each others mind because they are purposefully shutting out exterior information. Especially if the point of the argument is to change the other sides view.

Ive had problems with this as well. Sometimes you just cant win.- unfortunately I personally hate it when others are SOO arrogant and stubborn, that they refuse to accept without processing information first. I mean its one thing when someone accepts the other sides point and disagrees, but to refuse to let other evidence sink in, is another.

We just found out, two weeks later, how to find our locker numbers:

Step 1: Add 1963 to your old number.
Step 2: Shift over 2 to your left and up/down one. If not, stay where you are.

Two weeks later.

That's silly. Our school has lockers which we can place our own locks on. Though lockers in our school actually cost money, you kinda rent them out for 1 year.

He was referring to their numbers, ie. how to find where yours is.

Some people are just unable to come up with simple solutions, as I said.

Ah, I see. Though am I missing something obvious here? How big is your school to have over 1963 lockers?

....there are only like 1200 or so lockers in our school. They just upgraded them. Don't ask me how or why that matters.

Don't you just love it when all of a sudden teachers decide to make a punishment you recieved before (assuming you haven't served it yet) much worse?

No? Same here.

StapleButter's university adventure, ep. III (or whatever)

So I get in time for the English course. The dreaded English course. These courses have always bored me. I tend to land in the best group even though I'm not that good at understanding spoken English (and have a horrid French accent when speaking it, but eh). They require participation and all, but half of the time I'm just not into it.

This year, we get tons of silly, boring and long assignments. Courses last 3h (duration had always been 2h before). And to make things worse, some morons decided that the English course would be the most important thing ever, and no second chance if you fail it, because fuck you. All of this together has pretty much killed my motivation.

So the day was supposed to be the English course followed by an exam. Long day. Oh well.

About 10 minutes past the start of the course, we're informed that the teacher isn't coming because she's sick.

Well, atleast one positive thing in this day. Well, not for her, but you know how things go.

Instead, someone else takes us to another room for a mock TOEIC test. Before anything, a sorta-breakfast is served for those who didn't get a chance to eat something.

Test is supposed to be oral comprehension, followed by written comprehension. We end up doing it the other way around due to technical problems. Ah, teachers and computers.

I can tell you that this TOEIC test is extremely annoying.

There are 200 questions. We don't have proper answer sheets, so the first thing we do is... take a sheet of paper and write down columns of numbers until 200. Fucking amazing.

The questions aren't even challenging or anything. If you know English, it's fairly obvious most of the time. But the sheer amount of them makes the whole thing terribly annoying.

I get sick of it midway and slack off. Not like it matters anyway, that won't count towards anything. And do I really want to pass the real test? Only if the jobs I could want require it. There are sessions for passing that test (you don't get to do it whenever you want) and you need to pay for it.

Break. At the end of it, power outage. Doesn't really matter, corrections are still delivered to us.

The exam went sort of crappily. I'm sick of this whole crap.

A typical example of the French World Problems.
I know a couple of French speakers (either from France, or from elsewhere, like Cameroon), I had to make them repeat multiple times, before I could finally understand what they're saying, just because of their French Accents.

so from what I heard, they changed their minds and gave it a second-chance exam like for everything else

not that it helps remotivate me, though-- in theory I could already get a decent job, so why bother?

so let's post about how all that shit went

I went job-hunting. But a lot of the job offers require to have completed 5 years of studies, or more than 3.

So I decide to come back to univ, to build up more chances of getting a good job later. (and that's when I get job offers, wee)

It's not particularly exciting, but doing things is what keeps you alive, pretty much. I spent several days at home doing mostly nothing, and I can tell you it's depressing in the long run.

Exams are coming, in one week. I'll have to be working hard to get somewhere.

* parallel/distributed programming
* advanced database shit
* networks
* advanced algorithm crap

English doesn't get its exam, because we're already into what serves as the exam-- 'startup presentation'. My teammate and I have been showing ours the last Monday, report is due the next Monday.

in the meantime, my nature still makes me slack off at every opportunity. help
