I'm thinking of creating a SMG2 hack. It will be called (insert thread title). I intend on creating at least 2 worlds by June 2016. A demo will be released at the completion of world 1.
Some ideas I have include: A Monkey Ball style ball rolling stage Funky gravity puzzles One (yes just one, don't want to overdo it) throwback level, not sure which one yet This hack will include all new custom levels (except for one, see above), new music (I do write music, so it'll be interesting there). I even plan to use sequenced music (if possible, I'll see if there's a way I can do that). I'm at school currently, when I get home I will update with more info. [UPDATE] I'm home, and I have been for awhile. I was perfecting my MIDI to BMS converter, so sequenced music can be inserted. All one has to do is decompress JaiSeqs, convert and Yaz0 compress the new BMS file, replacing the old one, and pack JaiSeqs again. To reference this in a galaxy, it's just a matter of editing ScenarioBgmInfo.bcsv, the name of the song is the same except for BGM instead of MBGM. |

Posted by StapleButter Yeah, I guess that's a short time span. I'll extend to December. Why do you think 2.5 failed? If I know I can pay close attention and prevent these problems from arising. |

Posted by StapleButter Well since I'm alone, disagreements aren't that big of an issue (hurr durr), but I'll try to limit ambitions and keep them reasonable. Also, there are 14 galaxies in the first 2 worlds, and 14 months until the following December. I'll put aside 4 weeks per galaxy, so I can focus on one at a time, and have days left over for beta testing after each world. |

Well, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but...
If you can only model 'a bit', whatever you make will look dull when imported into the game. You need to be able to reach the quality of the original models. This, combined with having to come up with good galaxy designs, maybe have some fights with the SMG engine or Whitehole to be able to do what you want, appropriate testing... All of that while having to also keep up with school, of course. I don't really see this project going at the announced pace. It's definitely not a one-man job. Consider, for example, how many people at Nintendo worked on these games. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Posted by StapleButter What about free form surfaces, like bezier or NURBS?
This, is a more valid argument. I've started this as of a few days ago, and haven't really started anything. Of course, it's only Wednesday, and I have a lot longer to get this done (November 21 is the "deadline"). |

StapleButter is right. There's no way in hell you're going to get anywhere with this mod, unless you have an impeccable team of 'uber haxorz'. I'm working on a team project myself, and it's nowhere near easy. I'd suggest coming back to the project later, if you find anyone willing to chip in for a team collab.
Not saying it's a bad idea or anything, but you're definitely going to need help and probably a lot more time. |

You were right. It's been so long and I haven't gotten anything done. I will get rid of the time limit and stick to four galaxies. |
