I literally cannot play Lil Mac for my life.

Why? Just consider all the characters I use.

Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Fox, Palutena, Charizard, Zelda, Ness.

What do they have in common? They all have a solid set of aerials and at least one that I LOVE to land with (or a special lol). I usually like to spend my time in the air (minus Fox and Zard) with them.

Mario, Luigi, Yoshi (ESPECIALLY him), Fox, Zelda and Charizard have a nice Nair to land with. I like covering Zelda and Zard's landings with Nayru's Love and Rock Smash respectively.
Peach can float and I like using Dair/Bair.
Ness has the biggest head in the universe and I love using Uair and Bair to fall with.
Pally has her Fair that sets up into other combos and has little landing lag.

I literally can't stay grounded with Mac so RIP lol

For the first 6 months of my time playing Smash 4, I just couldn't wrap my head around the concept of combos or aerials.

My play style with Little Mac was all "in ur face lol"... which didn't work once I got serious about the game.
Now, using a shit-ton of Luigi tech, I feel like I'm ready for tournament-level play!

I also got some Mario tech on the side for bad match-ups now!

But I think it's safe to say that I'll keep Mac around for the n00bs. :P

Did anyone else realize this?

Apparently the "live matches" in Spectator Mode in Smash Bros. 3DS AND Wii U are actually pre-recorded.

I kinda suspected tho, as I've seen the exact same match played a few times.
Then it was confirmed. I was waiting for a match to start, and with my shitty internet connection, it cut off.

This happened:

Knowing this now, the game seems a little less impressive. But don't get me wrong, it's still an awesome game!

The big N never really went in to detail on how they managed to fit all that on a tiny cartridge, and even going about misleading you by telling you the matches were actually live.
Now all the smoke and mirrors are cleared... on that bit.

Thanks Nintendo!

It's really impressive that the 3DS version was made in the first place!

I guess I used to think they pulled some fancy trick to actually let you watch live matches. :P
Thinking about that now, it would lag really bad if they did that.

But what's with having the Replay Channel, the Spectator mode, and having the ability to view submitted replays?
Sure, you can bet in Spectator mode, but it still seems kind of redundant.

I decided to try the youtube upload thing. Here are some videos:

Dat counter :v

And here is a more serious one. A 2 stock against the top 10 in my country. It was perhaps a struck of luck.

depends on the room. a lot of times it's minimal but other times it's unbearable.

So I'm trying to main Shulk after realizing that grab spam only really works on my brother.

Hey Grid, you think you could give me some tips? So far, I've got: speed > grab > d throw > n/f air > repeat.
Then: buster > build damage > smash. I also try when I'm at high damage: shield > build as much damage as possible, then I end up dying eventually.

What's your stratagy? Is mine crapo?

Back Slash is somewhat regarded as a noob move, but I use it sometimes to provide some good distance. Vision is good, don't overuse it, you can do the second mode of Vision by tapping forward. Shulk has insane range, and I like to finish combos with an Air Slash because it's hype.

Backslash used to be a noob move, before it got buffed. Now you can punish rolls and catch people in the air, but its still not that good.

Not really. The buster + speed combo works if you know how to play. Based on here, since you just trying to spam grab, it works fine as you said. But when playing against others, you should capitalize on spacing and stage control. Buster mode for mainly dealing damage, and use speed to troll around until you get buster again.

I don't have a clear strategy, but I almost find myself starting with a movement speed. Sometimes in Smash art when the character is combo heavy, like Sheik, since some combos dont work on Smash Shulk due to the drecreased weight.

Mainly, Shulk is about patience. Though, never use Shulk against a Fox (and in some cases, Sonic). You will get rekt hard.

BTW, when can we 1-vs-1? NNid is Gridatttack (mind the third T)

I can play most Thursdays, and later, Fridays at around 3:00. Central American time. I play the 3DS version ONLY cuz I don't have a Wii U.

I also wanna master Shulk first tho.

So I can see how Shulk would be the best pick for most situations, any un-favorable matchups? Who would you use instead for those?

Also, does Shulk have any zero-death combos?

>master Shulk

I don't think you will have enough time.
If you already have someone else, I recommend sticking to that, and leaving Shulk as a secondary, or third.

Trying to get good with Shulk will usually take a long time, depending on your skill level.

I've been playing Shulk since the game came out, and I still have stuff to cover.

And not really. Shulk doesn't really have a great advantage in most matchups. Its usually a 50/50 or 55/45 with like half of the roster, a 65/35 in favor against low tiers, and bad matchups in the higher tiers.

As for who to use in the bad situations, either someone who is faster, or has more options. This is why I made Dark Pit one of my secondaries, because I simply couldn't play against Fox or a good Sonic.

And nope. Shulk doesn't have almost any true combos that involve more than 3 moves, so im sure there's no 0 to death.

Oh yeah, don't want Shulk as my first main as that honor is still held be Luigi.

Also, now I can play every weekday morning too. Around 7:30-7:55 Central American time.

Anyone else want to play me?
