Really? If I'd pay $60 for NSMBU, I'd easily pay the same for effectively unlimited Mario levels and an easy way to make and share mine.

Well I'm not sure about the eshop; it might be the same.

Sorry guys but Super Mario Maker looks so much better than all the custom made 2D Mario level editors out there. The input is instant, you can test your levels on the fly, and you can immediately switch to different game themes. Also, the editing is so much more intuitive. Plus, you can't have Magikoopas or Bowser Jr. in vanilla SMB... this kind of stuff is what makes Mario Maker great. Theres so many customization options I feel like I shouldn't have to explain them all.

It's worth 60 bucks. If you paid 60 bucks for NSMBU then you should have no problem paying 60 bucks for this. It's basically the entire game with a never-ending supply of levels to play. Infinite replay value, basically. AND you can make levels in SMB/SMB3/SMW themes.

Can't believe people here are hating on this game. It's one of the only good things to happen at this year's E3. Animal Crossing Amiibo Party and Metroid Federation were the bad things.

Just in case people think I'm hating on Super Mario Maker- I'm not. It looks fun, and is an interesting way to celebrate thirty years of Mario platformers. I'm definitely getting it. I just find it inferior to the tools that you can get for free online.

Also: Anyone tried out the custom levels in various Mario vs. Donkey Kong games? The highest rated ones are always terrible. Either they're stupidly easy, or automatic and useless to play.

I made a legitimately challenging level in Minis on the Move that got a community rating of 1/3 Stars, meanwhile there was a level that was literally just a straight line and it got 3/3.

Its not worth 60 bucks for this tool. I suppose you say that because you really didnt went deep with the level editors.

The only plus sides you listed are for SMB1 and some for SMW.

And overall, this is a sandbox game, not designed for serious, quality level making.

It does looks great, but 60$ is not worth it. (And I didn't pay for NSMBU, it unfortunately came bundles with the console)

Hoping the digital version is cheaper, then I might get this.

I think around 30$ to 45$ is more price I'd find righteous. It's a cool 'game' but a full 60$ might be too much.

I'm pretty excited about Super Mario Maker!

Hopefully Yoshi is available in SMB and SMB3 themes in the final game unlike E3.

Definitely worth sixty bucks for this tool, i'll be happy to say goodbye to this nonsense.

The difference between Reggie and this is that you have to take a f***load of time to test your level in Reggie.

TAKE THE SD OUT OF THE PC

PUT IT IN THE WII

TURN THE WII ON (not to mention the wii takes forever to f***ing boot)

GO TO RIIVOLUTION

WAIT FOR IT TO BOOT

SELECT YOUR RVLUTION SETTINGS

and then finally, you can test your level. not to mention you have to go to the exact level slot in the game that you replaced.

In mario maker, if you want to test your level, just click the clap board. Easy as that.

For making game hacks, yeah, Reggie is the better option. But if you just want to make levels, SMM is the way to go (at least for me) each to his own opinion.

I'll be happily buying it for 60 bucks because it'll probably be one of the last first-party games for wii u judging by Nintendo's lack of support for the system.

Perhaps Xenoblade and Woolly are the games I'm most looking for.
Glad that Xeno comes out this year.

Eh people are honestly getting too worked up over modern Nintendo. It's not like they were perfect back in the day (Lost Levels, only releasing certain games in Japan) and it's not like some of the stuff they show is actually pretty good. Yoshi's Wooly World?

I literally cannot comprehend why everyone is so upset over it, it's a spinoff not an official title.

It's like getting angry at half the minigames in Nintendo Land.

We were pissed off because we waited 6 years, and that's all they could come up with?

There's also a petition to get this game a change of name, or even cease development.

Agreed, NOT worth $60.

The game does look fun tho!

It'd literately be the ONLY video game I'd have a digital download for.

Lol, the digital version is going to be 60 dollars too... just like every other retail Wii U game. Buy it or don't buy it.

Knowing NIntendo, they will pull that BS off, so Is better getting it physically.

I has that (useless) collectible Mario Maker book, which is nice.

Also, yellow box.

I will get it when someone is reselling an used copy for half the price or something in between.

And its nice that you can unlock the amiibo costumes ingame, without the need to go crazy finding them.

But this time the physical version comes with a book while the digital one doesn't.

Who gives a crap about a dumb book, we're ROM hackers. We specialize in creativity with pre-existing elements.

Not all ROM hackers are skilled in terms of level creation.
Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

I am actually interested in that book, to be honest. I'm curious to see what they put into it.

You don't need to preorder a digital game, they never run out of stock! ;)
