Recently, I've been replaying Animal Crossing for the GameCube, as it was my favorite game when I was younger. Anyway, I completed my in-game NES collection, and couldn't help but wonder if it's entirely possible to replace the NES ROMS with different games?
For example, when the player chooses to play, let's say, Balloon Fight, you would access the game normally, but instead of playing Balloon Fight, the ROM in which was injected would boot up in it's stead. The reason I'm asking this is because I want to learn a bit of hacking to try and create a fresher version of this game, complete with new fish, bugs, and other various items. |

But why would you want new bugs in the game?

No idea about bugs and fish, but I think replacing nes roms would be easy. One of the few files in the Animal Crossing ISO is famicom.arc which when put through ArcExtract, yields the nes games in a folder called game. It might be as easy as replacing the files but keeping the same name. You also might not be able to use a larger .nes file. |

Which program would I need to replace the file? Hex Editor?
Also, about fish and insects, I thought of just simply texture hacking certain default ones to replace them, and editing the game's text to call them by name. I may could also change the cover art for NES games as well. |
