LET ME INTRODUCE THE EASY WAY TO MAKE MODELS!!!
You'll need: Sketchup that can export OBJ files Blender Step 1: Use Sketchup to create the framework for the organic object you're modeling (i.e. the ground, be it grass, sand, or otherwise): http://bin.smwcentral.net/u/21732/TUT_00_0.png Step 2: Export OBJ from Sketchup. Import to Blender, and apply subsurf modifier (the normals will, in general, not be correct, so you'll need to fix them. Go to Edit Mode -> Mesh -> Normals -> Recalculate Outside/Inside, whichever one works): http://bin.smwcentral.net/u/21732/TUT_01_0.png Step 3: Add some platforms. DO NOT EXPORT THESE FROM SKETCHUP, OR THE BEVEL MODIFIER WILL NOT WORK!!! So, add them in Blender (it isn't hard really), and apply the bevel modifier to them That was the reason I made the indentation, to make a more realistic look: http://bin.smwcentral.net/u/21732/TUT_01_1.png Step 4 (no images): Texturing! There are a variety of methods to do this, I personally like to let Blender generate UVs from a cube if I'm only using a single texture. Otherwise, I'll export back to Sketchup to texture, it's a lot easier to do detailed texture mapping in Sketchup. For the beveled object, I'd use a cube, because it IS a cube after all. Step 5: Import into your favorite game, and enjoy! Please, if there are any questions, I'll answer them to the best of my ability. |

This is pretty basic, but it works. Nice. ____________________ a |

Posted by MrRean Thanks! I just recently came up with this method and thought I'd post it. |
