Has anyone heard of the new messaging flaw in Apple's iPhones? It seems that if you send this…

effective.
Power
لُلُصّبُلُلصّبُررً ॣ ॣh ॣ ॣ

… To an iPhone, their iPhone crashes, and reboots. Ironically, Apple is supposed to be a “safer” phone than Android. Glad I am an Android user now. I used this against my friends, and sent 35 messages to each Apple contact I had. Even if the number is blocked, it can still be received.

Try it out! It crashes the iPhone, and prevents the user from opening the iMessages app

Good thing I'm still using an old version of an iPhone on an old version of iOS. Besides, isn't the 6's battery life like, very short compared to the 4's?

I'm beginning to hate seeing 'omg iphones are bad' and shit all around the internet, like they would generate this exact string when testing the iMessage.

Oh, and the reason this happens is because the code scans for stuff in message like the calendar dates, times, phone numbers, etc...if it didn't have this check none of this would crash.

Doesn't mean Android doesn't have its share of vulnerabilities, either. (see also: 'I'm safe on Linux because it has no viruses')

iPhones are only 'safer' because you're being controlled by Apple, and you can only use what they have approved. Unless you jailbreak, that is.

I always believed that it would last longer. Dunno if its true, or not.

Well, of course not. All technology has its flaws, and Android is not an exception.

I also kind of hate the fact that Apple releases a new OS version like every four months. They're on iOS 8.3 (IIRC) while Android is on 5.0.1. Then again, they probably do it for “security reasons”.

Apple only makes so many new models etc so they can say "oh, yours is obsolete, time to buy a new one!".

Though on the other hand, Android isn't much better unless you have a Nexus or Motorola phone. It takes forever for devices to be updated to the most recent version of Android, and in many cases they are never even updated at all, which leads to there still only being a small percentage of Android users on 5.x. On iOS they at least keep the old devices updated (though a 4S running iOS 7/8 is pretty damn slow.)

Does it just crash and reboots, or does it happens everytime the person see the message?

It reboots once, but the message app will crash when you try to open it until someone sends you another message. At least, that's what happened on friends' iphones.

I don't know why, but it doesn't work with my iPhone, maybe because I'm still on ios 7.1?

On works on iOS 8, and above. Forgot to mention that.

Oh yeah, someone at my high school said that they had heard of this. They said someone received a message in Arabic that would supposedly have crashed their phone if it were an iPhone 8. (It was an iPhone 7 though)

Wut? o_O

There is no iPhone 8, or an iPhone 7. The most latest iPhone is the iPhone 6 Plus.

There's probably going to be an iPhone 6s this year.

Also the iPhone 6 Plus came out at the same time of the iPhone 6. :)
