So I've been working on something for the past, uh, I don't know, 2 - 3 months. And here it is! This is a remake of Super Mario 64 in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Why did I want to do this? Well, my first custom level was a remake of Bob-omb Battlefield, but it was very clearly a beginner's level as there were barely any interesting gimmicks and techniques used. But now that I understand hacking this game a bit better, I can make better looking levels, or at least I think they look better.
I'm planning on creating all 15 original courses from Super Mario 64, and the 3 Bowser stages into Super Mario Galaxy 2. I have a few levels being worked on right now, so here are some screenshots. So yes, those are a few levels that will be in the hack. Right now, there are still some levels being worked on. But I do have one that you can try out, which is Bob-omb Battlefield. Here's a demo. It has all stars including Green Stars changed, a custom banner, mini galaxy icon, and text. Note that the Green Stars have new names, so if you enter another galaxy, those Green Stars will have the name as well since I simply changed the Green Star name in the ScenarioName. https://kuribo64.net/get.php?id=oRvEsH0VQWxemxVW Finally, I need to say that all of the levels replace Flip-Swap because I'm not sure if any other galaxies would work with all the items I am using. I'm not sure how I could make all the levels work together, so ATM they are all separate. |

Wow, this looks very good for a beginner
But there still is a lot to fix: - textures look a little bit weird at some places - no shading - there isn't much decoration Youtube | Github | Neo Mario Galaxy | Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario 3D Land Modding |

1. Is the 4th picture of Bob-omb Battlefield an example of what you mean by weird textures? It's probably because of the triangles in the model, but that's the way I got the model when I ripped it from SM64DS. I made it in Sketchup, so I don't know if other editors make better looking models...
2. What exactly is shading, and how do I do it? 3. Have you ever played SM64? The levels are pretty bland, but work for N64 physics. I tried to keep my levels as similar as possible, so I didn't add THAT much stuff. Oh, and in some pictures, there is more stuff but the game camera isn't showing them. |

I own a N64 with SM64.
Well, if you want to remake the levels, you should add more stuff to the level. But you said there is more stuff the camera isn't showing... Youtube | Github | Neo Mario Galaxy | Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario 3D Land Modding |

The level got indeed not much decorations, Thats why you remake them in order to make them good looking.
He means vertex coloring btw |

Do you mind if I steal this idea/work with you? I'm looking for a project to do over the summer and it could be really fun to create reimagined versions of all these stages. I'd help create models and you can help with anarchy placement and testing. ^ Also I need that tutorial... no more baking in lighting please! |

Certainly. I'm fine with you using this idea, as I know I wouldn't be able to do much alone. My models were crap, since I literally ripped them from SM64DS then gave them SMG textures with no shading in Sketchup. I do enjoy adding objects the most, so I'd be fine with doing just that. |

Can you post .obj versions of the models here? I want to use them as reference for if I make my own models. |
